Download Windows 8 RTM Final [Legally]

Windows 8 RTMed on August 1st, 2012 and very next day first ISO image leaked to the web. Soon after, various versions of Windows 8 leaked to the web, as per various tech blogs.

A torrent claiming to be Windows 8 Enterprise N for x64 machines has appeared on torrent search engines. The ISO file is compressed to 2.83 GB. But the comments look promising. Downloaders have tested the ISO after extracting the compressed archive, and it is Genuinely Windows 8 RTM, Enterprise edition.

Warning: We don’t recommend you go out looking for these illegal downloads. If you’re interested in buying Windows 8 Legally, read on.

The ISO is named MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.8.ENTERPRISE-N.RTM.X64.VOLUMN.ENGLISH.NON_BOOT_DVD-SAMOVARWZT. ISO doesn’t include a boot.wim file, hence the reason the words NON_BOOT_DVD. But if one does an upgrade or clean install from within Windows 7,  bootable ISO is not needed.

"ENTERPRISE-N" version Windows 8 not include Windows Media Player.

The version leaked is an “N” edition of Windows 8 which does not include a bundled copy of Windows Media Player. Microsoft was forced to create the special N editions of Windows after the European Commission ruled in 2004 that it needed to provide a copy of Windows without Windows Media Player tied in.

How To Download Windows 8 RTM ISO Legally

If you are an MSDN subscriber, you can get Windows 8 RTM after August 15, 2012. We know you are eager to try Windows 8, but you should wait for it.

On August 15th, you can visit the MSDN Subscriptions. You will see the link to download Windows 8 RTM. This will be also be available for all IT Admins and professionals wh are interested in adopting Windows 8 for the enterprises.

On August 16, customers with existing Microsoft Software Assurance for Windows may download Windows 8 Enterprise edition through the Volume License Service Center (VLSC).

If you wish to buy it like an end-customer, you will have to wait till October 26th, 2012. Windows 8 Home Premium would retail for $200 and would go upto $400 for the Windows 8 Ultimate edition.

    Windows 8 Home Premium would retail for $200 and would go upto $400 for the Windows 8 Ultimate edition.
    There is no such Windows 8 versions as you said. Also, pricing details are not yet annouced apart from the upgrades.

      There are a bunch of different versions. The one leaked is a European one without Windows Media Player (hence the ‘N’) designed for Enterprise customers. As such, it is Volume Licensed and won’t need to be activated. The leak is real, but not in ISO form (just the files) as stated. However, by booting into WinPE you an install it, or you can make an actual, bootable ISO or upgrade.

        I wasn’t talking about the leak but the versions. There are not any Home Premium or Ultimate any more. It’s just 2 consumer versions, Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro.
