This is Tech world, there is no such thing as WAIT for next version. Because if you do wait, you’ll just keep on waiting. There is no end to waiting…
If you are planning to buy a new iPhone and at present you do not use an iPhone. You will not miss anything in presently available iPhone as you’ve not had any taste of iOS previously. However if you do have a tiny idea about the usual iPhone launch schedules, which usually happen during September each year, going by the launch trends, you should wait if your decision is to be made in August. Or even if it is July, if you are a patient one, which obviously you are not, hey you’re buying an iPhone! Why be patient? But if you are taking the decision in any other month, don’t think anymore, go get the currently latest version.
And then there are the semi-educated, semi-deep pocket lot which do have the average to medium knowledge about the iPhone but don’t have the deep pockets to get latest iPhone. What do you do? You do your research and figure out what re the features you are ACTUALLY going to miss buying the previous version of iPhone. I would say nothing much if you are buying one previous model to presently available iPhone. Why? Tech hasn’t changed much during previous year, rather prices have come down as technology is being produced on mass scale.
And if you fall in the already iPhone user lot, and you own just one previous version, i would ask, why do you actually want to buy newer iPhone? isn’t the older version serving the purpose? buy a new case or skin for your phone and give the latest version a skip. Get the next one, start saving for it right away. You have to keep in mind the Apple iPhone launch trends. First they launch an upgrade, then it is followed by “S” version which is a superior version and much better optimized based on user feedback. Then there is the “SE” version which i would call Simply Elegant version.
Now you know the Apple drill, choose wisely..]]>
Nuff said, lets hit 5G, which has max speed of 5 Gbit/s. As the data speeds are almost 5 times over 4G and there is higher capacity to accommodate a higher density of users, 5G has the capabilities to bring not just mobile users, but it can also include Internet of Things, and even Cars.
Operationally 5G would also bring down Latency and reduce battery consumption too with smarter circuits. Although a commercially nascent tech, the concept of 5G is almost 5 years old. This was when the UK government set up ‘5G innovation Center’ at University of Surrey in 2012. And companies like Huawei and Ericsson have been conducting field tests in Netherlands countryside during 2015.
The 5G network will go all out to support massive broadband applications with its distinctively high speeds and low latency. Industries in the domains of IT, automotive, entertainment, agriculture, and manufacturing are going to reap big from 5G. Not to mention, the Gamers! Lower latency means bettery online gaming experience.
Two of the world’s mobility tech giants have been very vocal about 5G and their executives have been sighted quoting “5G will connect everybody, and everything,” Tim Baxter, President of Samsung Electronics America & “5G is going to be so much about densification” Rajeev Suri, CEO, Nokia. Companies like Verizon have already confirmed to have been running field tests for 5G as part fo their feasibility studies.
So imagine this, a not very distant future where your refrigerator will talk to you phone to order your food supplies. The moment you open your fridge in morning, your brew machine would start heating the water inside it. As soon as you get out of bed, the sensors in your room would inform the water heater in your washroom to get ready start heating up the water. and maybe the pressure of your butt on the toilet seat would send weight analysis and heartbeat check to your mobile phone daily. So may more things to imagine. Like your car turning on the moment you pick up the keys.
Future going to present an incredible trade-off between chores that need to be automated and those who to be done manually.]]>
Google Assistant, however, has been available on Google Home, Android Wear 2.0 Google Allo, NVIDIA Shield TV. We recently did and article on how to get a feel of Google Assistant on your Android based phone here. However that was limited to short span of features offered by the Assistant.
The artificial intelligence based personal assistant from Google will be coming to all Android phones having Android 6 Marshmallow or above. This was announce at MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress). In the first phase, it will be rolled out for English users in US, UK, Australia and Canada.
The Android OS users in the mentioned countries will be instantly able to use Google Assistant as it will be integrated within the Google App. Hence users will not have to depend on their phone manufacturers to roll out system updates to accommodate the Assistant. Phone manufacturers usually take ages to bring software upgrades.
As the year progresses, the roll out will include more countries as well as languages. The newer phones like Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 will have Google Assistant in-built out of the box.]]>
While the Apple iPhone 8 is still in the closet and iPhone 7 is raking all the moolah, Samsung once bitten by Galaxy Note 7 debacle seems to be preparing well for Galaxy S8 launch. Or atleast the leaked news and video put it that way.
While Samsung officially announced the launch date for Galaxy S8 for March 29, 2017, lot of features & specs are visible through leaked videos of the 2017 Samsung Flagship Smartphone.
The iconic fingerprint sensor based home button has been replaced by on-screen buttons. The device continues the legacy with curved and edge-to-edge display. The leaked images are also accompanied by YouTube video (watch it before it gets taken down). The video gives a hands-on with the Galaxy S8 phone. As seen in the video the finger-pirnt sensor is absent on the front, presumably it should have moved to the back where it is ergonomically placed where users place their index finger for easy nlock operations. We are yet to see the rear image of the phone.
Having sifted through numerous rumors, it is satisfying to see that the next generation of Samsung Galaxy S series is a pretty looking mean machine. In the video one can see that the large screen brings possibility to do lot more on the visual appeal of the phone.
Hopefully this time around the TouchWiz would make full use of Android 7 Nougat to make it a smooth user experience.]]>
The LG G6 Official product video is very loud, yet it only features a wider screen (due to a thin bezel) and camera whose software has been modded and manipulated to flaunt some show-off features. LG is surely catching up with the cliche with rear Finger-print reader, dual cameras and loads of soft mods to camera app. And they have supposedly fitted a 5.7 inch display in a body meant for a 5.2 inch display.
Camera App has ‘Square Camera’ feature which has several sub section mods like ‘Snap Shot’, which actually reduces the ‘view-finder’ to a square fitted on the upper half of the screen, while lower half shows preview of recently clicked image. ‘Match Shot’ feature of the Square Camera allows you to keep one square constant and click a ‘matching’ pic in the second square. The ‘Grid Shot’ feature in Square Camera allows you to click images on the upper square and shows preview of clicked images in 4 squares within the lower square. The Grid Shot also allows you to place upto 4 video calls on conference. The ‘Guide Shot’ feature in Square Camera lets you to match the subjects’ poses to a another still image by superimposing the old image onto the ‘view finder’ screen. User can use the slider to increase or reduce super-imposed image onto the live image.
LG G6 feature dual camera (both wide angle) which are actually put to good use to caputre wide angle images. The video depicts the same nicely. Cherry on the cake, even the front camera is a wide angle camera which has Selfie auto-shot feature. The 360 panorama image caputre function can be used with much more efficacy with the wide angle rear cameras with the LG G6.
LG G6 is also dust and water resistant. It has battery optimization feature, details of which are yet to be seen. Does battery optimizations in software mean that the physical battery is lagging in juice, needs to be checked.
Dolby Sound is a popular wannabe feature in today’s smartphones, LG G6 takes a giant leap with Dolby Vision & HDR 1o support. Dolby Vision delivers a significant improvement in brightness, contrast and color of images and videos.
Now that the phone has a big screen, it also supports Android tablet features like ‘Landscape Mode’. Here is the LG G6 offical product video. And as it comes to life with Android 7, it has the Google Assistant built-in.]]>
This video posted by Nokia brings back nostalgia and allows you to re-live old memories.
iPhone 7 Plus has been outselling the regular iPhone 7, while it fills the gap between iPad and iPhone screen sizes. Currently the iPhone 7 is available in 5 colors, namely – Two shades of Gold, Space Grey and two shades of Black. News about a probable Red colored iPhone 7 first came out on the Japanese Mac blog macotakara during December, 2016. These guys have re-confirmed the news on their blog recently.
The red colored model for both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is expected to be announced during 2017. This may be done at the sidelines of Apple iPad Pro event to be held during March, 2017. The 128 GB model of iPad Pro may be announced during the event.]]>
However for the restless lot, there is quicker way too. You can get the Google Assistant on your Android phone right now!
Move to Google Playstore on your phone, and search for “Google Allo”. It is an instant messaging App like WhatsApp, LINE, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, etc. This App, also called “Smart Messaging App” by Google comes with ‘smart reply’ functionality and Google Assistant.
So when you install Google Allo, you automatically get Google Assistant in-built. The Assistant can suggest restaurants nearby or tell you about latest movies. All this takes place within the conversation window. You just need to add “@google” as prefix to your message and you & your friend get replies instantly within the chat window. The Google Assistant also helps you with directions to your places of interest and seek answers together with your friends.
For Example: Just type “When does my flight leave”. As you would have received your flight booking confirmation in your Gmail inbox, Google Assistant would fetch the answer from there and give you your flight details real-time. Something similar to Google Now, it gets more personalized and vocal with the Google Assistant.]]>
Release date set to February 26, 2017 (Sunday)]]>

Apple moved from second position to regain its No. 1 position as the most beloved smartphone brand in terms of sales. As reported by Gartner during quarter ending September, 2016, Samsung sales are declining every passing quarter. Apple has been lagging for almost 2 years, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s have barely managed to maintain Apple sales during their lifetime. Apple iPhone 7 launch has been a turning point and resulted in Apple’s market share to increase to 17.9% while Samsung came down from 20.7% during Q4-2015 to 17.8% during Q4-2016.
Main reasons for Samsung’s diminishing marketshare are:
When we move little lower to competitors below 1st and 2nd positions, we notice Huawei maintaining its 3rd position and managing to grow slowly yet steadily from 8% during Q4-2015 to 9.5% during Q4-2016.
Amazingly, companies like Oppo and BBK Communication Equipment have nearly doubled their marketshare. These companies have directly been gaining from Samsung’s losses. While Huawei has been focusing the premium category where margins are still high, other competitors have been busy bringing down the prices of entry-level smartphones as well as spinning out iPhone-like phones at various price levels.
Apple has been sticking to One-product strategy while mild permutations, Samsung continues with their multi-spectrum, multi-flank strategies. Top Chinese companies like Huawei, Oppo, BBK, ZTE, Xiaomi and Lenovo are spoiling users for variety, with features being added at every $5 rise in price of handset.
Google Android has been maintaining its Top position with 81.7% marketshare while Apple iOS lags at 17.9%. There literally is nobody else left in OS competition.
Globally there are now 1.5 Billion smartphone users, a number which is 5% more than number of users during previous year 2015. Hence, the future for smartphones is bright and competition is only set to intensify with time.]]>

First of there is no easy no easy way to hack an ATM machine. With growing number of banks and their customers, ATM networks are growing. And they are becoming increasingly tough to hack. The most common ATMs these days are wincor nixdorf ATM, Diebold ATM and Defcon ATM.
Second, don’t be mused by arbitrary ATM hack tricks like:
These trick are bogus and are worthy only to be shared as WhatsApp forward jokes.
To become a serious hacker, you first of all need to get your hands on the right tools. A hacker is always known by the tools he uses. These tools constitute combination of right hardware (card, card writer, etc) and a right mindset.
Network Approach – A slightly older yet popular way for hackers was to interrupt X.25 network with MITM (Man In The Middle) hack. This hack essentially makes the ATM understand that it has received authorization to dispense money at the request of the hacker. ATM has to be working on X.25 network for this hack to succeed.
Card skimmers – This is a physical method. Most common and simple method to hack an ATM is to use a Card Skimmer tools. These are usually a combination of a card reader (intelligently installed onto the ATM’s card slot) along with a keypad (placed over the ATM’s keypad). As soon as the card is dipped into the slot on ATM, the card reader records the card details and the key presses are logged into the skimmer keypad. Then you can write the skimmed card details onto a blank card and get the clone of the original ATM card. This clone card would work on any ATM and get you all the cash in the victim’s bank account.
ATM master key – This method grants you access to ATM’s maintenance mode where you can withdraw funds from the ATM by manipulating ATM software. And no one’s account would get debited (other than the target bank). This method can be used to withdraw cash from ATM without actually meddling with the machine or causing any damage. One needs to visit the target ATM first to check the manufacturer and model details. Once you have them, just go to ebay or AliBaba and find the suitable ATM maintenance master key. Master key will lead you to the motherboard of the ATM where you can plug in the update USB key and withdraw all the cash in the machine.
Additionally there other remote ATM hacking tools (Dillinger) and rootkits (Scrooge) which can be downloaded and used at the ATM.]]>

BEST OVERAL PERFORMANCE SMARTPHONES OF 2016
1. Apple iPhone 7 Plus
2. Samsung Galaxy S7
3. Google Pixel
Although we voted the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 as the best performance phone but due to its untimely demise we are ranking its kin at second spot. The competition among the between best performance phones has been cut throat in literal terms. The performance of Top 3 listed above is constituted by best combo of hardware and software. Perhaps when the smartphone is at conceptualizing stage, the objectives of high performance begin to lost on the way.
BEST BIG SCREEN SMARTPHONES OF 2016
We try to carve a category of phones with screen sizes bigger than 4.5 inches and go upto mammoth-ish 7 inches. A bigger screen pushed the phone size, parallelly allowing for bigger battery and hence lasting for days. The year 2016 saw phones screens achieving bigger sizes than ever before, the industry assumed standard 4.5 inch screen left in hind sight.
1. Samsung Galaxy S7 edge
2. LG V20 – features 5.7 inch main screen and secondary front screen
3. Galaxy Note 7 – best phone, big (busty) battery and best high res screen and stylus (S-pen)
Another worth mention phone is the Moto Z Play, which offers upto 8 hours display time with high brightness. The average user looks at their screen for max 2 hrs per day, a power user maybe be for 4 hrs. with Moto Z Play, you’ll not reach out for your charger for atleast 2 days of normal use.
BEST COMPACT SMARTPHONES OF 2016
Compact size is the one that snugs into your hand nicely and to a certain extent allows for one-hand operation (big hands). 4.7 inch has been recognized as the perfect fit during 2016.
1. Apple iPhone 7 – best apple phone yet for real. Best performer yet efficient chip and much faster
2. Google Pixel – best google phone available in market. Perfect sync between Hardware and Software. Good battery and RAM specs
BEST CAMERA SMARTPHONES OF 2016
While the margin between the top best camera smartphones for 2016 is thin, hands-down Google Pixel and Pixel XL have made it to the top and still retain the position. Apple iPhone 7 Plus is barely an inch away. Google managed to take on Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” with Low Light shots which are just wonderful and have saturated colors. While HTC was a pioneer, Apple iPhone 7 Plus takes dual camera feature to a whole new level. Samsung Galaxy S7 isn’t left behind, it has the fastest focus capability.
1. Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL – both sport same camera
2. Apple iPhone 7 Plus, while iPhone 7 isn’t far behind
3. Samsung Galaxy S7
BEST BUDGET SMARTPHONES OF 2016
Yes, they are cheap on cost, they deliver near-flagship experience. The recently launched One Plus 3T is best budget flagship phone which delivers at par performance. It has almost stock Android (Oxygen) experience, finger print sensor, long lasting Battery and unique Dash charge. 6GB RM is awesome, making it future proof. One Plus 3 is almost similar sibling and costs less than the 3T.
1. One Plus 3T and One Plus 3
2. Motorola Moto G4
3. Huawei Honor 8
BEST BATTERY SMARTOHONES OF 2016
A big battery doesn’t always imply long lasting phone. The hardware and software combo has to be working together to achieve a long life. Ranking these phones in a sequence might be unjustified where all of these have varied battery specs, yet they surpass battery life standards.
• Google Pixel XL (3450 mAh) – much more optimized for battery use
• Apple iPhone 7 (2900 mAh) – Smallest battery of the lot, yet the charismatic iOS 10 and A 10 chip make sur eit does not loose the race to big battery warlocks
• Samsung Galaxy S7 active (4000 mAh) – Samsung’s flank entry to kill battery competition
• Moto Z Play (3510 mAh) – pure Android experience, good build quality gives you 6 hrs battery life
Myth: Leaving your iPhone overnight on charging will harm your battery life as the charger will keep pushing electricity into an already full battery. It will cause the phone to overheat and reduce life of its internal circuitry too.
Truth: Overnight charging does not harm your iPhone in any way. iPhone’s hi-tech circuitry in Lithium-Ion battery (for that matter 90% of other phones too have Li-Ion batteries) has a charging circuit that cuts off charging power when the battery reaches 100%.
So your phone actually switches the power source from battery to direct power from charger once the charging reaches 100%. Hence your battery rests while it is charging beyond 100%.
These myths were a truth for the older Nickel-Cadmium (NiCad) batteries which actually used to get overcharged and in turn became super hot. This does not apply to Lithium-Ion batteries, however the myth still hounds most of us.]]>
In case you or somebody else entered a wrong passcode 6 times, the device will get locked / disabled. So be careful with your device, dont leave it with unwanted pestering people.
So unless you made a backup before you forgot your passcode, there isn’t a way to save your data present on the device. You shall have no option but to erase your iPhone or iPad data and settings completely.
Recovery using the “Recovery Mode” (for Forgotten Passcode)
If you’ve never synced with iTunes or set up Find My iPhone in iCloud, you’ll need to use recovery mode to restore your device. This will erase the device and its passcode.
Design: Samsung is rumored to let go of the ‘push’ Home Button and embed it into screen glass. Although Google collaborated with HTC to develop Pixel phone, they haven’t diverged from the iPhone 6 / 6s / iPhone 7 dimensions and design. Samsung has always dared to go beyond the set frontiers.
Screen will be curved at both the ends, Samsung may curve top and bottom of the screen in an ergonomic way too.
Display: Samsung’s AMOLED has come of age. The present day Galaxy S7 screen is the best that any phone currently has. Even if we trust the rumors that Samsung will not improve much on Galaxy S8 display, it will still keep the phone among the Tops in displays. To set new benchmarks, however, it has to leave every other phone’s throat filled with pixels.
Apple’s retina display was the tipping point for the Pixel war and every generation of Samsung Galaxy S has been exceeding iPhone in this department. Even as the curved display is a challenge to mesh pixels to perfection.
Sound: Maybe they’ll drop the 3.5 mm jack like Apple and break away from the tradition. But the in-built speakers have to take giant leap, while overcoming the challenges to keep the phone splash / water resistant.
Memory: Rumor mill is buzzing around the Galaxy S8 memory specs. A 6GB RAM is considered eminent. This will give Android OS good amount of breathing space and allow bulky TouchWiz to operate at ease.
Under the Hood: Better CPU and GPU would promote better VR and 4K outputs. Considering the currently available chipsets, the phone may be powered by Qualcomm SnapDragon 830 chip.
Performance: Galaxy S8 has to have smooth UI and not be bloated with bulky TouchWiz features.
Camera: Samsung has to bring itself back to the Top with a ground breaking camera tech. World has already seen multiple element lenses, optical image stabilization, dual cameras, bigger apertues. Galaxy S8 got to overcome Google Pixel top position in benchmark rankings.
Battery: Goes without saying, a Better and Safer battery is a must. Need to choose vendor intelligently.
The YouTube videos of Samsung Galaxy S8 also feature a tiny projector placed next to rear camera. Maybe in future you could just hold the phone against a wall for big screen Video chats. Or maybe use the phone as a personal movie projector.
All in all, it has to leave a long pace ahead of nearest competitor Apple iPhone 8 so that competition stays at bay for a long while.

First off, what’s new and how iPhone7 is better than iPhone6s:
• iPhone 7 has a mirror-like anodized Aluminium body with foam sheeted glass, what Apple calls “Singular shape”. I must say things are pretty precisely engineered with no design flaws what so ever.
• It is the first ever water resistant iPhone
• Has an advanced Solid State button with tactile feedback
• Camera – f/1.8 aperture with six-element lens i.e. 4K resolution
• Better 7MP selfie / Face Time camera
• Moves on from dual core CPU to Quad-core CPU
• Slightly better battery life
• iPhone 7 supports VoLTE
BODY: The first time you hold the iPhone 7, you’ll only feel the money you spent upgrading over iPhone 6s. Yup! there’s nothing new to the touch and feel. The aluminum casing is much more glossy and slippery. No hard feelings for John Ivy, Chief Design Officer, Apple. Since he hasn’t changed the dimensions, and he is an icon, he had to come up with something new to talk about the iPhone 7. So he gets a dedicated design video to his credit. Then again you’ll get a case for it, so nothing new in this aspect.
Continuing about the dimensions, Apple appears to have found the right size for a phone and that is 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm, same as iPhone 6/6s and now iPhone 7. And those who prefer phablets, they have the iPhone 7 Plus sized at 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm.
Apple iPhone 7 has the same rounded edges and volume rocker buttons, power button, ringer notch as the iPhone 6s. The only difference is that the Home Button isn’t clickable anymore. It now has tactile feedback, gives out mild vibrations as you press onto the solid-state button. You’ll know only when you use one.
This is the first ever iPhone to be splash / water resistant. It has IP67 rating. So you should be fully protected from dust and can safely submerge the iPhone 7 in 1m deep water for up to 30 minutes. Samsung Galaxy S7 has IP68 rating, letting it stay unscathed at 1.5 m deep water.
Both the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus models are built with incredibly strong 7000 Series aluminum. Phone body is typically dent-proof for general falls from 3 to 4 feet heights. Mentioned ‘General’ as I’ve had few falls recently and it is still near perfect in shape.
DISPLAY: The iPhone 7 features Apple’s Retina HD display with wide color and 3D Touch and it has 4.7 inches screen size. The maximum screen resolution is 1334 x 750 pixels. Images are very clear with best in class color outputs. A perfect screen size with a perfect clarity is what you get in this combo. Moreover the immaculately colored and designed iOS 10 icons are a treat on this screen.
UNDER THE HOOD: iPhone 7 is powered by Apple’s latest A10 Fusion chip with 4 cores. The most eye catching fetures of the quadcore processor is that it has two high performance cores and two high efficiency cores. Meaning, during the idle times, only two high-efficiency cores are getting battery power, while other two only kick in when you have heavy processing work to do. This elongates the battery life and controls excessive phone heating. I personally have not noticed phone getting heated up excessively under normal usage. Its aluminum body is perhaps another reason why it remains koool.
The latest iPhone now supports VoLTE which was a much awaited feature for countries where network operators have been supporting the technology since a while now. The VoLTE (Voice over 4G network) gives high-quality wideband calls that make your conversations sound as crisp and clear as if you were face to face. That’s what an iPhone should be meant for, after having spent a fortune to buy it.
MEMORY: Apple iPhone 7 has only 2GB of RAM, compared to the 3GB in the iPhone 7 Plus. As far as the internal memory goes, the iPhone 7 has doubled the capacity of iPhone 6s across the line to 32GB, 128GB and 256GB models. 2GB RAM does mar the phone’s performance at times, however those are indeed very crucial times when you multi-task in extreme conditions. The iOS 10 does handle memory usage efficiently. I do feel, the 3GB RAM for iPhone 7 should not have been missed.
SOUND: The iPhone now has stereo speakers, one at the bottom and one at the top. But it has no 3.5mm headphone jack. Better and louder sound over any previous iPhone, which should have been even better. Lesser known brands are getting Dolby certifications, while iPhone barely managed to get twin stereo speakers. The phone also has an increased dynamic range though.
CAMERA: Remember those Shot on iPhone adverts? Well, they are here to stay for iPhone 7 too. S the phone has better low light capture capacities over iPhone 6s. It has better flash than iPhone 6s which gives 50% more light. iPhone 7 Plus has two cameras that work as one.
The Google Pixel camera fares better than iPhone 7 camera. And the iPhone 7 camera finds stiff competition from Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG V20 cameras.
Sticking to the iPhone 7, the camera has an added optical image stabilization feature which makes it more practical for action shots. The ƒ/1.8 aperture combined with better flash gives better video and image captures in low light. Things are a notch up than previous iPhone but they aren’t really pushing the envelope this time. The iPhone 7 lets you shoot in 4K resolution with over 8 million pixels. Another worth mentioning feature in the camera is the slow motion support in 1080p and 720p HD.
I have been using Face Time (over VoLTE as well as WiFi) and the images are clear and videos are smoother now. Maybe the 7 megapixel front-facing camera combined with software upgrade will make you fall in love with your selfies.
BATTERY: A tad bigger battery and a tad less power consuming chipset, leave you with upto 12 hours of solid use (some 2 hrs extra over iPhone 6s). For normal daily use it leads upto 16 hours. The Non-removable Li-Ion 1960 mAh battery is decently suited for 4.7 inch screen. While the competition has crossed the bar and achieved 2000 mAh power, a few are reaching upto 3000 mAh, that’s a mind boggling number.
The signal reception on the iPhone 7 is exceedingly good as the antenna has been embedded antenna within the aluminum body enclosure. The New Home button gradually grows on you, making it difficult to switch to any other phone. So that was my first-hand experience with the Apple iPhone 7 after having used it for almost 3 months now. Do share your views and experiences on social networks which you follow us on.
In the “Phone + Tablet = Phablet” world, size does matter. In fact, size is everything. By size I don’t mean the bigger the better. Size has to be Perfect!
Samsung has bettered the perfect size with perfect styling, perfect ergonomics and perfect technology. All this and much more packed up in 169 gms and dimensions so sleek 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm you’ll fear it may slip outta your hand.
BODY: Galaxy S series is Samsung’s flagship line-up. The Galaxy series is a cult of its own. Its like neighbor’s envy, owner’s pride! And Galaxy Note 7 left plastic and moved to figurative Aluminium casing and became waterproof too. Additionally it comes in varied colors: Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Black Onyx.
As I go on structuring this review, focus will be on most striking items in the Gypsophila of latest age technology, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
DISPLAY: The Display is a jaw dropper. The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors is flawlessly spread over 5.7 inches screen real estate. The display elaborates the images with max resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer. and it comes with the S-Pen with 0.7mm pressure sensing tip.
UNDER THE HOOD: The Galaxy Note 7 runs Android OS 6 (Marshmallow) and is up-gradable to Android OS 7 (Nougat). This powerhouse is run by a powerful Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Mongoose & 4×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and is accompanied by Mali-T880 MP12 GPU on Exynos 8890 Octa Chipset. That is like virtually 8 horses pulling you war chariot. The CPU and Chipset are the same as Galaxy S 7, an already established Gladiator in the Colosseum.
MEMORY: This mammoth size phone comes with a 64 GB internal memory and unparalleled performer 4 GB RAM. Normally when you multitask rigorously, your phone finds itself asking for more resources to switch between apps and manage parallel jobs, this here is an exception where things are vice versa. Your phone keeps taking work orders and can never really utilize available resources to the fullest. Thus leaving you with itchy fingers and you ask your Note 7: Hey while you process my heavy graphics job and simultaneously get updates for all of my 100 Apps, play me a BlueRay video in a window, will you! And it complies..
CAMERA: Common Talk – When you compare your phone specs with a friend’s or colleague’s device, Camera is one thing that is sure to come by, even if you miss out discussing processor and RAM specs. So here is the Camera Spec which may sound ordinary cliche but does deliver more than expected. The Note 7 has 12 Mega Pixel Camera with f/1.7 26mm and LED flash. Hey it records 4K video and with its super 1/2.5″ sensor size it has fine HDR click capabilities too. It also has a secondary 5 Mega Pixel camera f/1.7. The camera is fast and very clear with the clicks.
SENSORS: This here is category created specially for Galaxy Note 7 as the device seems to be loaded with all sorts of sensors, namely accelerometer, Iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, gyro sensor, proximity sensor, compass, barometer, heart rate sensor , SpO2 (Oxygen sensor). What? An Oxygen sensor? What for? This is to detect capillary oxygen saturation i.e. it gives you measure of Oxygen in your blood. This works similar to device they attach to your index finger in hospital to check Oxygen saturation. Yep its a doctor too.
BATTERY: All the above mentioned things consume a whole lot of battery and the Note 7 is adequately equipped with Non-removable Li-Po 3500 mAh battery. And it charges up quickly to your heart’s delight! (Had to add the human touch here!). The phone gives me a full day run with all my mails, WhatsApp, Facebook, G+, Twitter, and an average talktime of 2 hours a day.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expensive, yep it is. If you can overcome this hurdle, then you are gonna be a marathon runner and would be yelling all the way: Somebody stop me!]]>
For the record, I would like to claim that this is the First ever smartphone that actually grows on you. As I go on using it, I’ve liked it more and adored it more.
Google for the first time have not been their usual silent selves when it comes to advertising the Google Pixel phone. This phone is not really #madebyGoogle – it is actually manufactured by HTC and software Android 7 Nougat is developed by Google. It sure is designed by Google.
Coming back to our delima with review, the phone at first sight does not contemplate uniqueness as the market is full of similar form factor devices. Maybe the Pixel draws its “Quietly Brilliant” DNA from HTC. The Glass back however is something that leaves a mark in the eyes of beholder. To a certain extent it improves antenna performance for better signal reception.
The phone does have the beloved 3.5 mm headphone jack and it has awkwardly wide bezel at the top and bottom of the screen. Sometimes reminding you of the Apple iPhone bezel which has fingerprint sensor. One good thing is that the phone isn’t overtly thin, ergonomic to hold in hands easily. And is fully suitable for one-hand operation.
That being said, lets dive into the phone review.
BODY: The phone has one of the best ergonomic dimensions. I have tried holding those 6 inch displays which handicap the user to be able to use only lower half of the screen and holding big screen causes frequent slipping. Google Pixel has the size of 143.8 x 69.5 x 8.5 mm (5.66 x 2.74 x 0.33 in) and weighs only 143gms.
DISPLAY: An AMOLED capacitive screen gives the Pixel an aura and delights your eyes. Imges have depth and supreme clarity with 1080 x 1920 pixels. Not the best in the market, yet fits the bill. The Pixel has Night Light feature which tints the screen amber, making it a delight to read in dim light conditions. You can customize the schedule according to the times you turn your room lights off and go to bed. So next time you wake the screen at bed time, the bright light won’t roast your eyes.
UNDER THE HOOD: Google Pixel runs on Quad-core (2×2.15 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo). The same processor that powers industry’s biggies like Samsung Galaxy S7 and S 7 edge and S7 active, LG G 5, Sony Xperia XZ, HTC 10, Xiaomi Mi 5s, ZTE nubia Z11, BlackBerry DTEK60, OnePlus 3, vivo Xplay5 Elite, etc. The processor is fittied on a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset with Adreno 530 GPU. Hate to say it, but the phone does get warm easily and really hot when playing games or 4K videos. The aluminium body comes in handy to cool it down quickly once you stop pushing the phone.
MEMORY: I’m an avid smartphone user with heavy multitasking requirements. As far as using the Pixel goes, it has literally never hung or complained running low on resources. I have the 128 GB model with 4GB RAM and I’m not asking for more as of now. As I keep backing up full high res photos and videos shot from the Pixel onto Google Photos. Google Photos gives lifetime unlimited free cloud storage space for Google Pixel users. I do carry an external 128 GB OTG USB for carrying extra data when im not in home WiFi range.
CAMERA: No other feature of Google Pixel has caught the imagination of the internet as much as the Camera. Why? Because Google gave Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus run for their money in the image caputure deprtment. Apple has been advertising “Shot on iPhone” almost everywhere and a camera better than an iPhone, that too supported by critically acclaimed DXO Mark benchmark results is something for iPhone to ponder. And ofcourse an instant shot to Fame to Google Pixel owners. Stand in a group of camera enthusiasts and just say “Hey guys, I got the Google Pixel phone”, you’ll be a celebrity. Be ready to give out technical specs.
BATTERY: Pixel scores well with battery. My phone lasts more than a day even with frequent peak usages during the day. Office and personal Mails, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Duo calls, 1 hr talktime, 1.5 hrs HD video playback, Bluetooth headset on LTE network lasts me a day. The Non-removable Li-Ion 2770 mAh charges up quickly than usual android phones, half hour charging does give me 5-6 hrs use. OnePlus Dash charging is still faster.
SOUND: I’m afraid the acoustics aren’t very good, just ordinary with speaker at the bottom. There is only one speaker, not loud enough, decent enough for hands-free calls in relatively silent ambience. At first I thought I gt a faulty handset as I could hear sound form only one opening at the bottom, later to realize that the other opening is for mic. I’ve often blocked the speaker by accidentally putting my finger on it.
The phone comes with Nano-SIM and is Splash and dust resistant. Fingerprint sensor is very very conveniently placed at the back right where your index finger rests. I have not had a single miss while trying to unlock my phone with a not-so-clean finger print.
The phone has a notification light too, can be turned on in settings.
The Google Pixel is all-in-all, a complete phone. Rather its a ‘go with the flow’ phone, it handles things well, whatever you throw at it.]]>
