I started using pdanet for about two months. One day when I went to tether my phone to my laptop it didn't work anymore. It keeps saying can't find usb drivers. I have tried everything I know of. I have uninstalled several times on my pc and phone. Still wont work. Even went as far as formating my pc and it's still a no go. What in the world do I need to do about this.

Please help! I have done everything to tether my phone through pdaNET and when I try to connect, it says "Phone is not attached." which is weird because it lets me transfer files so I know my computer is recognizing the phone via the USB. Also when I tried to search for more information about how to do this via my phone using google, it just kept taking me to Verizon's page offering the tethering package!!!! Can Verizon control my google searches like that?!?!?! It was a bit scary, like Verizon was not allowing me to search and sending me to their own site.

This process worked like a charm, my friend almost gave up too soon - he was going to just go to Verizon. As we read and re-read through Adams instructions everything he said was on point and he's connected now. Thanks Adam

You can tether via USB to your Android for Internet connectivity for FREE using free open source software. I've detailed the steps for doing it here:

Cheers!

Sure this will work but your internet connection through you laptop while tethering will block secure web sites. Are there any ways around that? with out having to buy the Pdanet version

I have used it on my laptop (Win/7) for 6 months. It works great but I have unlimited data on my Verizon plan. I believe it is only $20 extra and well worth it. I purchased the full version of pdanet after seeing that it works flawlessly on my droid 2. I highly recommend it. I was paying $60 per month to verizon for 2 years for tethering to my laptop.

This post was clearly made by someone who works at Verizon. I have been using PDA net with my droid through my laptop for about a year now, every day. I have never had any issues and I really don't think Verizon can tell any differnce between usage on the phone vs. running it on the computer through PDA net.

For everyone reading this trying to do this, you cant. the reason is that the Wii can not connect to AdHoc Devices... and that is what your phone is. Due to driver limitations on the phones you phone is not acting as a true full wifi access point.

Install HotspotShield - free (but, annoyingly ad supported, but read on) and a paid (removes all ads) versions. HotspotShield runs your computer and ANYTHING PLUGGED INTO IT through a VPN.

Follow all other instructions here fr PDAnet free version.

Start HotspotShield. Start PDAnet. Check Tethering (in Droid). Click connect on PDAnet (on computer).

Try an https url. Magical, isn't it?

I love it when VZW drones try to sway consumers away from easy access items like this. That company is making it's money and will never terminate service for tether. You really need to reconsider your priorities. The $10.00 an hour that they are paying you is chump change and you should question an organization that feeds you misinformation. I have tethered my Droid for a month now and have seen no changes in service fees. But that is what they tell you to think. Dude, I feel for you. I really do.
