iPad 2, iPhone 5, Apple TV Features and Specs rumored: A5 multicore, more

iPad was among the best selling gadgets of 2010, despite all predictions that said iPad would Fail, we predicted iPad would be a superhit, and it did. Despite the fact that there are several times better Tablets like Galaxy Tab & now upcoming Motorola XOOM, its still worth talking about iPad 2.

So far, we’ve heard several rumors about iPad 2. But today we’re finally hearing some concrete set of artifacts grabbed by engadget. These facts hold true for both iPad 2 , the iPhone 5, and the second iteration of the new Apple TV.The cases we saw recently for iPad 2 are rather early versions, which means we’re still months out from a proper introduction. The tablet’s next iteration is rmored to be arriving around april, exactly an year after its launch. iPad 2 would be redesigned in the same fashion as we saw with iPhones. Silver metallic black takes shape of more curvy and slimmer feeling solid plastic which makes the device appear thinner, sleeker.

The best part of this Tablet would be its new Retina display inherited from iPhone 4. and will be “super high resolution”. The iPad 2’s size will remain unaltered at 10” but will now feature both front and rear cameras accompanied with an SD slot. It is sais that it is almost certain that the device will have a dedicated SD slot built in (with no traditional USB slot).

Update: A more practical approach would simply be doubling the resolution of the current iPad (1024×768) to 2048×1536 at a 260 DPI. While not quite a “Retina” display, it would follow with Apple’s efforts to avoid fragmenting their product line. From a developer’s perspective, the doubling of an existing resolution is much easier to support. Apple similarly doubled the iPhone’s resolution from 480×320 to 960×640 when they introduced the iPhone 4.

Version 1.1 of Apple’s iBooks application seems to have accidentally included some artwork for this hypothetical pixel-doubled iPad.

Based on this information, and persistent rumors of a higher resolution iPad 2, we believe the next iPad will have a 2048×1536 screen resolution. It would also explain why Apple would have to upgrade the GPU on the new devices to drive this higher resolution.

If you look at he photo below, you would see a port in the case, this nothing but the SD card slot we’re talking about.

In order to have continous connectivity, the new iPad will endorse the new dual GSM / CDMA chipset produced by Qualcomm. This chip would actually make it possible to make it a world device and even provide more options as far as Verizon & AT&T are concerned for the US.

iPhone 5: Rumors about iPhone lead us to two different conclusions: Where one set of rumors lead to minor upgrades for iPhone 5, other set of rumors talk about a complete redesign.
The rumors about complete design overhaul has stronger grounds and it is said that right now, the device is being tested discreetly by senior staff at Apple (strictly on campus only).

There are no concrete facts about the new design, but its is said that the new device will be a total rethink from a design standpoint. As far as the processing power is concerned, it will be powered by Apple’s new A5 CPU (a Cortex A9-based, multi-core chip). iPhone 5 would feature the same dual band Qualcom chip, same as iPad 2. But there’s no LTE in the screne, at this moment.

Apple TV: Apple learned alot from the TV, and is looking on to make it more than a Hobby. Apple would introduce App Store fro the iTV and the box would be powered by the same A5 processor. The A5 CPU is said to be blazingly fast, playing 1080p video “like running water.”, just like Nvidia’s Tegra2 chipset.

Verdict:
Apple is about to make the biggest switch in the iPhone, iPad parts switching from infeneon chipset to Qualcom. The new gen of devices would be brought to similar lines, and would become dual core to compete with current lineup of Android devices.
