Opera 11 – Faster, Chrome-like Extensions

Opera is stepping ahead with its speedy web browser towards Opera 11, successor of the  fastest browser Opera 10.5
Opera 11 will bring some serious improvements in performance and features, some of which are now being previewed in the latest Opera 11 Alpha.

To start with, it’s very Chrome-like and convenient, brings the most desired feature: the extensions.
In the beginning there are 16 extensions available in the gallery. Currently, it’s located at http://addons.labs.opera.com/Developer documentation has also been posted. The concept is very similar to chrome: Extensions are written  using web languages: GTML, JavaScript, CSS.

Opera also claims that it should only involve a few simple tweaks to port existing extensions from browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. You can check out some additional screenshots of Opera 11 browsing and installing extensions after the jump.

Opera is citing speed and performance improvements in this version. Apart from that, all inbuilt stuff have been enhanced: a better mail panel, tweaked bookmarks management, and more support for HTML5 web features.

Opera 11 is a free download, in alpha, for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
