Run Code Online [40+ Languages]

Though most of us prefer to code offline, it makes sense to have a web application that lets you edit, run and debug a code snippet without having to setup environment for the language. The best instance to use such a webapp would be writing for an environment you may not have access to, or on the move.

Whatever your reason is, there are a few no. of Web-applications that support multiple programming languages. But there is none as flexible as “IDEOne“. It’s current working beta supports 40+ programming languages and plans to add further in near future. If we look at the list:

Ada, Assembler, AWK (gawk), AWK (mawk), Bashbc, Brainf**k, C, C#, C++, COBOL, Common Lisp (clisp), D (dmd), Erlang, Forth, Fortran, Haskell,Icon, Java, JavaScript (rhino), JavaScript (spidermonkey), Lua, Ocaml, Pascal (fpc), Pascal (gpc), Perl, PHP, Pike, Prolog (gnu), Prolog (swi), Python, Ruby, Scala, Scheme (guile), Smalltalk, Tcl, Text, Vala, Visual Basic, .NET

Woof! and more to come. This is what the code you write looks like:

Don’t expect it to execute jsut anything, the app is good for mini-algorithm writing/testing. In addition to the code execution, it gives out sample of code for the languages, I guess that could act as a fair playground for learners. And in case you are bored, you can look at all the recent stuff people have tried to execute for different languages.

Give it a Try: IDEOne

  • Really cool. Wish there could be a link to an API listing, when you compile.
