Step by Step Guide to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone, iPod Touch: (The guide is very easy to follow, still if you need any assistance: Reach us @taranfx on twitter)

Step 1. Download the Firmware and launch Sn0wbreeze, make sure you run as administrator (if running Vista or 7).

Step 2. Click on the Blue next arrow. At this point you get option for choosing between two modes: Simple and Expert. We will do simple for now, choosing Expert is totally upto your experience level.

Step 3. Click on Browse and locate the 3.1.2 firmware. At this point, if you make a Jailbreak for iPhone, the application will ask whether you want to activate iPhone. That’s simple, if you are on unofficial career, Select YES, else NO.  and Click Start to start creating custom firmware and wait for several minutes.

Step 4. Put your phone into DFU mode using the on-screen instructions.

Step 5. Open iTunes and SHIFT +Restore and browse the custom firmware you just created. Wait for iTunes to finish off its stanard recovery procedure and you are done.

Yesterday, iPhone hack GeoHot released Blacksn0w, an unlock for the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Let’s start the 3.1.2 specific Tether

Step 1. Jailbreak, Unlock iPhone 3G, 3GS using blackra1n. Open the Blackra1n app .(This assumes that you “sn0w”, then hit the Install button. )

Note:If you have problems with WiFi, GPS, or YouTube after unlocking with Blacksn0w. If you have any such issues, go to Settings > General > Reset> and hit “Reset Network Settings”. Once that’s complete, do a hard power cycle by holding the sleep/home button for a few seconds and then sliding the on-screen power toggle.

Step 2. Open Safari. Navigate to: http://m.peacefulinsanity.com/Tether.mobileconfig

Step 3. Hit the “Install” button on the right top. Confirm the resulting prompt. Allow the IPCC file to install, which will take about 10 seconds.

Step 4. Close Safari. Hold the sleep and home button until your iPhone resets. This reboot may take a bit longer than normal.

When your iPhone resets, go into Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering. If you can successfully switch the “Internet Tethering” slider to “On”:

Congratulations! Everything seems to have worked as expected.

Let’s get started:< Pre-Requisites:

Download iTunes (latest)
Download iPhone 3.1.2 firmware for iPhone 3GS

Download iPhone 3.1.2 firmware for iPhone 3G

Download blackra1n RC3

IMPORTANT: For those who have already installed blackra1n RC1 or RC2 should directly run the the Blackra1n.app and click on “ra1n” (ra1n replaces “Icy”).  This will automatically upgrade blackra1n to RC3. Now simply follow Step 3.

Step 1: Open iTunes, connect iPhone and Update/restore to the original iPhone firmware 3.1.2.

Step 2: You will now have to jailbreak your iPhone running on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware with blackra1n RC3. This procedure is same as earlier, and you can follow the guide: Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware using BlackRa1n..

Step 3: [When jailbreak completes] Open the blackra1n.app and you should now see “sn0w”.

Touch on “sn0w” to install blacksn0w. This will Unlock your iPhone 3G, 3GS running 3.1.2 firmware on 05.11.07 baseband.

Update: blacksn0w is now also available on Cydia: add http://blackra1n.com/ to cydia sources.

Google the custom firmwares and download from torrents, as you read on:

• For iPhone 2G: “iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore”
• For iPhone 3G: “iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore”
• For iPhone 3GS: “iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore”

Hint: there is a site dedicated to custom firmware called iphonefix, try to look for it.

Step 1: Preparing your iTunes

Once download of the required .ipsw file completes, Move it to the following location:

Windows 7:
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\”

Vista
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\”

XP
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\”

Restart  iTunes9.1 (upgrade to latest version), while keeping the iPhone connected.

Step 2:  Restoring

Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.1.2 that you have just downloaded for your iPhone.

For Mac, Click on ‘Ok’ to the prompt displayed and hold Option key and then hit Restore button. For Windows, hold the shift key and then hit the restore button.

New window popsup asking you to locate your custom firmware. After selecting, iTunes will start decompressing and then will install. This is an automatic process, sit back and relax.

When it finishes, if you are on iPhone 2G, you are done. Your phone is jailbroken (with cydia installed) and Unlocked.

For iPhone 3G and 3GS, there’s just one more thing. ROFL like Steve Jobs always says.

Step 3: Installing Ultrasn0w (for 3G, 3GS  only)

Launch cydia,  Manage > sources > Edit > Add “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/”. This is the source for Ultrasn0w unlock for 3G.
After your sources refresh, search for “Ultrasn0w” and install it. Then Reboot . When it starts again, wait on the slide to unlock screen for say  10 seconds and after reaching home screen wait another 10. If you don’t see the your network working, reset network settings and try reinserting the SIM card and wait another 10 seconds.

You should be done.

Update 2: Jailbreak Unlock iPhone 3G 3GS 05.11.07 using blackra1n with blacksn0w

Update3 : Blackra1n RC2 released. this fixes:

• Fixed all issues that you might had when jailbreaking iPhone 3G with blackra1n RC1.
• Tethered jailbreak for 3.1 OOTB iPod touch 8GB and all the new iPhone 3GS’s.
• Fixed Icy issues.

Blackra1n  tool can jailbreak (but not unlock) all iPhone’s — iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 2G , 3G. Blackra1n is currently known to be an universal jailbreak for all firmwares. Curret release is Windows only, a Mac version of this app is expected sometime soon.

IMPORTANT: iPhone 3G and 3GS: DO NOT upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 yet. if you want to keep your unlock. Upgrading will result in modification of the baseband which will make it almost impossible for you to unlock. Wait for an Unlock.

Pre-requisites:

Download blackra1n for Windows
iTunes 9 or higher
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 2G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3G
Download iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3GS

Here we go:

Step 1:Update/Restore to the firmware 3.1.2 by holding SHIFT + clicking Update/Restore on iTunes, and locate the .ipsw firmware file that you downloaded. Let iTunes complete it’s job.

Step 2: Run blackra1n.exe. If you are on Windows 7 or Vista, run the app as admin– Right click and selecting Run as Administrator. Also make sure that you run in XP compatibility mode — Right click -> properties “Windows XP Compatibility”. If you don’t do this, you might encounter some iTunes errors.

Now, Click make it ra1n:

This will take like 30 seconds or max 1 minute, wait for the iPhone to reboot.

Step 3: Your phone is jailbroken, but there is one more thing.  In your springboard, you would see a new icon “blackra1n”. Open “blackra1n”, Select Cydia, Icy and install them as shown in the screenshot:

Now springboard will restart and wohoo, you have fully Jailbroken iPhone 3.1.2. Reboot to make Cydia work properly.
