Apple would never let the powerful system apps to make their way to App Store. So all your mods and hacks would remain in the Cydia store.

Right now developing apps for Jailbroken iOS devices hasn’t been streamlined. One had to include several dependencies manually. iOSOpenDev aims to help Tweak developers to convert the ideas into app for Cydia Store in matter of minutes.

iOSOpenDev is essentially a ‘template for tweaksters’. iOSOpenDev makes development of Jailborken apps a breeze whether they’re based on Activator, MobileSubstrate, Notification Center or command-line. It does all the routine jobs like building debian packages (.deb files), and provides all the necessary facilities in order for you to submit your tweak into a Cydia repository: BigBoss or ModMyi repos.

Prior to iOSOpenDev, you had to do a lot of steps with Theos manually. iOSOpenDev comes packed with Xcode templates for creating jailbreak-style tweaks, including Activator listeners, command line tools, dynamic libraries, NotificationCenterwidgets, SBSettings toggles, and Mobile Substrate tweaks. It does not use ‘Theos’, however. Normally, jailbreak app developers do not use Xcode or other development tools of Apple iOS to create their packages. And since AppStore App developers use Xcode extensively, this is a golden opportunity for them to learn how to prepare packages for Cydia distribution and create tweaks for the jailbreak community.

iOSOpenDev is currently at a beta stage, but it should get better with time, of course its the first step towards Open development on iOS, way to go.

Video of a template for building SBSettings Toggle:

James is currently finalizing packaging and testing across multiple OS X installs to iron out any critical bug and ensure stability. The templates (along w/ a config for Xcode & SDK to allow such builds) will be publicly available in a few days.

Google Translate does a nifty job at translating one language to another as we type. Google Translate on Android and iPhone makes it even better by translating any conversation. Perhaps, Siri takes it to another level.

Lingual for iPhone 4S offers functionality based on Siri tweak. Lingual would leverage the latest AssistantExtensions mod, allowing users to dictate a word or phrase to Siri and request real time translation in one of the 35 supported languages. As of now, AssistantExtensions is available via Cydia for free. Developers can write plugins to hook into the Extension tweak, and Lingual has done exactly that.

Of course you need to have your iPhone 4s jailbroken on iOS 5.0.x and AssistantExtensions installed.

How to use Siri to Translate Languages.

Install AssistantExtensions, then Linugal from cydia. Then onwards Siri would understand all your Translate requests.

Translation commands would go like “translate [phrase] to [language]” or “what is [phrase] in [language]” and Siri will respond instantaneously with the required translation. It is indeed a blessing for anyone travelling abroad or trying to learn a foreign language. Try it out, watch the video below after a break:

Note: Lingual will be available in the coming days on Cydia. we’ll notify you as soon as it is available, subscribe below:

A considerable amount of effort has been put into ensuring Absinthe is of the highest possible quality, but be aware that unforeseen bugs may exist. Do take backups before you process.

Note: For iPhone 4S users seeking Unlock, it’s a safe bet that you do not update to iOS 5.0.1 in any case as the unlock tool in development will not be compatible with iOS 5.0.1 upon release, hence stay on iOS 5 if possible since the original release of iOS 5 which was pushed out in October is not being signed by Apple anymore, therefore you cannot downgrade your iPhone 4S to iOS 5.0.1 along with your sacrificed baseband.

How to Jailbeak iOS 5, iOS 5.0.1 Untethered iPad 2, iPhone 4S

Step 1. Download Absinthe for Mac and run it. It should detect your iOS 5 device.

Step 3. Unlock device, Look for “Jailbreak” absinthe icon on homescreen and click it., your device would be jailbroken in a moment.

Update: Troubleshooting tips:

1. If the Absinthe webclip shows “Error establishing a database connection”, please go to Settings, turn on VPN and wait instead.

2. Just reboot and redo the jailbreak if you have problems.

So you’re on a public computer and you need to access the desktop Gmail so badly but you’re really scared of entering your password on a public computer. Its fair to be scared, it might have a keylogger installed and incognito mode just won’t help.

Google has launched a new way to authorize and login with your credentials without actually logging in with password or keyboard onto any PC. It’s called Sesame.

How Google Gmail Sesame Authentication Works

It’s simple: Remote Autherization from your mobile. You personal mobile device’s browser is already logged-In with your Google credentials.

Step 1. Go ahead and Open http://accounts.google.com/sesame on the desktop browser where you need to access your gmail / google account.

Step 2. Launch your barcode scanner and scan the QR code that appears on /sesame. You’ll be asked to authenticate the PC for access to your Google / Gmail account.

Is your modern life and gaming habits making you lazy? Do you need a reason to workout? Here’s a one.

How about a game controlled by effort? By using your iPad, iPhone’s camera and accelerometer, BitGym can control the game, while you are making effort to burn those extra calories. You can keep the iDevice on your exercise equipment of choice. Harder you workout, more vibration are created that drives your game forward, of course, at the rate you workout.

The first one of its kind is a racer that converts rate of exercise to acceleration and head movement to steering. While you move your head around, you control the direction car steers to.

The developers will make an SDK available for just about every developer to leverage this platform.
Fitness Freeway is available now, and you can get a preview in the video below:

Fit Freeway is easy to play. The exerciser simply places an iPad or iPhone on the fitness equipment, (e.g. an exercise bike or elliptical trainer) and begins their workout. No special hardware or cables required – just the iOS device and the exercise equipment. Using BitGym’s patent-pending algorithms and motion sensing technology, Fit Freeway senses the rate of the exercise on the equipment, as well as the head position of the user. Exercise faster the accelerate your car and simply tilt your head left or right to steer.

“We think that FitFreeway is just the start for BitGym. We have ambitious plans to change the way people think about cardio. For too long people have been told to worry about minutes, miles or calories – but really what is important is that people are engaged, have tangible goals, and keep coming back. Cardio machines are awful at all these things, but with videogames we can change that. Research out of the Behavioral Medicine Laboratory at the University of Virginia sees cardio machine exergames increasing workout adherence by 83%,” says Alex Gourley, BitGym’s CEO.

Spoiler: It can work without actually working out too, just by shaking the iPad, iPhone. But don’t go lazy

I’ve spent hours finding the best app that could mimic MS Office’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint on iPad, but sadly there didn’t exist any. I’ve been playing in dust with apps like DocumentsToGo, Apple’s Office apps. None of them bring the native feel to them.

CloudOn is the first app on iPad (and in fact Tablets) that brings the Desktop feel to the MS Word and other MSOffice suite apps. CloudOn’s interface is very similar to that of MS Office, and it’s hard to stay away from it.

The app relies heavily on the cloud storage service, Dropbox. There are 2 steps to creating an account. 1. CloudOn Account 2. Dropbox account ( which you can also signup during the initial wizard).

The most useful aspect of CloudOn is its ability to let users create new documents: a Word doc, PowerPoint presentation, or a new Excel sheet. Luckily, the Word section is amazingly laid out almost in exact manner, order. You’ve function keys on top of the keyboard, like in android apps, which make experience even more seamless. The tool is indeed very rich and powerful.

Not to mention, all your documents are saved automatically to Dropbox, so chances of losing one are naive. This amazing app is free, so go ahead and try it on your iOS device.

There hav been a number of unofficial port for Siri to iOS 5 devices, but none of them were actually legal.

chpwn has actually figured out a legal way of installing Siri on iPod Touch 3rd, 4th gen, iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, or in other words any jailbroken iOS 5 device. The app is called Spire and is available via Cydia.

Disclaimer: It’s not very easy. Difficulty level: moderate

Pre-requisite: Your iOS 5 device should be jailbroken.

You will need to have your own Siri proxy setup, and an iPhone 4S (at least initially) for authentication to get it running on your older-gen iOS device. chpwn explains:

Spire is not a complete solution. Apple still requires authorization to use Siri, so information from an iPhone 4S is still required. To insert this information, Spire allows you to enter your own proxy server address. I’ve put up a list of my ideas on how you might get access to a proxy; hopefully you can figure something out.

To get a Siri proxy, chpwn suggests:

westbaer’s SiriProxy fork

Own an iPhone 4S too: Maybe you already own an iPhone 4S, and just want Siri on another device of yours. This is simple; you can just use the above proxy yourself.

Find a friend: Maybe your friend has an iPhone 4S and will let you use their authentication tokens (maybe in exchange for some cool SiriProxy plugins). Then, you can share the authentication. Or, maybe you gave your relative your old iPhone when you got your iPhone 4S: now you can share your token and give them Siri.

Pay up: It’s very likely that soon we will see for-pay services online to rent you some space on a Siri proxy, attached to one of their iPhone 4S devices. I haven’t seen anything like this yet, but I’ll keep my eye out, and I would encourage anyone who is interested to set something like this up.

And now for something completely different: As I suggested earlier, you might be able to replace Siri entirely. A simple method might be to use Google Chrome’s speech “API” hooked up to some code to decode the Siri requests and parse Google’s result. Or, someone could hook it up to some logic backends like many of the clones available on Android: the possibilities are endless.

Spire is available via Bigboss repo (which is default in Cydia). Go ahead and install it.

If you’ve already Jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS, its time to get the phones free of the network boundaries.

With Ultrasn0w 1.2.5, you can unlock iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone, iPhone 3GS on the following basebands:

01.59.00

04.26.08

05.11.07

05.13.01

05.12.01

06.15.00

You can check your baseband version under Settings > General > About.

Note: If you bought iphone recently, chances are there that it has a newer baseband, which is Unlockable. Verify the baseband version before you proceed.

iPhone Dev team has workedreally hard to get this one out as fast as possible.

How to Unlock iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS using Ultrasn0w

Step 1: Launch ‘Cydia’ application and click on ‘Manage’ tab, followed by ‘Sources’ and then ‘Add’. Add the following URL – http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com – then select ‘Add Source‘.

Step 2: Cydia would now verify this source and refresh its available lists. Go back and install Ultrasn0w, it will automatically unlock your iPhone.

Everytime you upgrade or restore iOS version, you hate losing all the Jailbroken iOS data. This keeps you away from updating to a latest iOS, unless you collect enough courage to go ahead and wipe your device.

The main concern is losing Jailbroken data i.e. Cydia apps, settings, packages, sources, settings. Hail! now its possible to backup them all to the iCloud, which gets restored the next time you install an new iOS -> jailbreak and hit restore.

OpenBackup lets you Backup Cydia Apps, Packages, Sources, settings to iCloud on iOS 5. Its available for free on the Cydia store vi ModMyi repo.

When you initiate a backup, OpenBackup will save all your Cydia apps and their preferences to a ZIP file under var/mobile/Library/Preferences/OpenBackupFiles location, along with a plain text log file that lists all backed up packages.

iCloud sync will automatically backup this file. If iCloud is not supported on your device, you can take this backup and extract it next time to get all the apps back. It restores everything other than paid Cydia apps.

Apple gave iOS 5 users minimal functionality in the iOS Notification center. You only get quick access to few widgets and other notification alerts. However, with a Cydia tweak, you can get a Dial pad in Notification center.

NCInstaCall is a Cydia tweak, of cours for Jailbroken iPhones, that lets you dial numbers, make calls directly form iOS notification center.

NCInstaCall is free on Cydia store available via Big Boss repo. After installation you’ll have to enable it from settings > notifications center > NCInstaCall > enable.

When enabled, a new dialpad widget would appear in the Notification Center. One downside is that there is no address book support in NCInstaCall, at least for now.

Redsn0w version 0.9.9b9b can jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch.

Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b9b for Windows
Download Redsn0w 0.9.9b9b for Mac

What’s new in Redsn0w v0.9.9b9b:

Ability to downgrade from iOS 5.x for devices with SHSH blobs saved.

Native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args). Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”

iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1. This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism. 5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again

3GS old-bootrom owners can now create custom IPSWs without blobs

ultrasn0w compatibility update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday

support for newer 8GB iPhone4 (which until now had problems with “Fetch blobs”). Thanks to @JKjeepnJeff for loaning us one of these newer i4 units for testing!

allows Windows users (not just OS X users) to use the “Custom” button to create IPSWs without baseband updates.

accommodates APTickets in 5.x (until next Apple countermove). APTickets are crypto-verified before submitting to Cydia, just like the main blobs. Cydia server support for sending back the APTickets is upcoming. For now, use stitched IPSWs for 5.x. Due to APTickets, stitched 5.x IPSWs now require user to start in “Pwned DFU” mode

Support added for stitching 4.x blobs to iPad2-GSM IPSWs. Similar to @notcom’s TinyCFW but doesn’t require lots of RAM or a TSS-assisted restore. Won’t work for iPad2 5.x blobs (or iPhone4S at all) until a bootrom-level exploit is out

Owners of newer 3GS iPhones must not flash the iPad baseband. The iPad baseband will not work on 3GS iPhones built later than 2011 week 35. You have a week 35 or later device if your serial # starts with xx135.

Still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.

Redsn0w recognizes 5.0.1 automatically, meaning; you don’t have to go through the fuss of pointing Redsn0w at iOS 5 manually then go ahead with the tether-jailbreak.

How To Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

After showcasing couple of hacks around Siri, Siri protocol explained out in open, here comes the unofficial Siri port as a Cydia tweak Siri0us, available for iPHone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch.

Siri0us – is free on the Cydia store and provides Siri dictation on iPhone 4, 3GS. We won’t see a full port anytime soon coz there are couple of legal issues, thanks to Apple’s control freaks.

Siri dictation works on all iOS5 devices. To install Siri0us, add the http://apt.if0rce.com repository to Cydia and search for the app “Siri0us”.

Note: In case you encounter continuos resprings, use a SSH tool to remove the /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AssistantServices.framework file.

The app works great on all iOS 5 devices, without any trouble.

Here’s Siri0us on iPhone 4:

Update: Spire: Install Siri on iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS

Soon after the hackers made first successful attempts of porting Siri to iPhone 4, iPod Touch & 3GS, it was obvious that more is coming.

After a sufficient amount of reverse engineering, enough understanding has been made regarding the Siri Protocol. To tap the app communication with the cloud, hackers setup a rogue DNS server that manipulates and tracks the interactions.

Siri communicates with server at port 443, to a server at 17.174.4.4 which is nothing but https://guzzoni.apple.com. The connection, obviously, is over https that uses SSL certificates to verify if the domain and the client are both authentic. Hackers managed to create custom SSL certification authority, added it to their iPhone 4S, then used it to sign their own certificate for a fake “guzzoni.apple.com”. This proved to be successful – Siri was happily sending commands to a faked HTTPS sever, which, as stated before, can be replicated again and again. Using this data, they managed to understand the data thats transmitted for every command.

Siri’s protocol is opaque. Let’s have a look at a Siri HTTP request. The request’s body is binary but headers look like this:

ACE /ace HTTP/1.0
Host: guzzoni.apple.com
User-Agent: Assistant(iPhone/iPhone4,1; iPhone OS/5.0/9A334) Ace/1.0
Content-Length: 2000000000
X-Ace-Host: 4620a9aa-88f4-4ac1-a49d-e2012910921

Facts about Siri Header :

The request is using a custom “ACE” method, instead of a more usual GET.

The url requested is “/ace”

The Content-Length is nearly 2GB. Which is obviously not conforming to the HTTP standard.

X-Ace-host is some form of GUID. After trying with several iPhone 4Ses, it seems to be tied to the actual device (pretty much like an UDID).

Siri Body payload (binary data)

When Siri binary data is looked in a hex editor, you would notice that it starts with 0xAACCEE. Oh, seems like header ! Unfortunately, nothing after that is readable coz its compressed using zlib.

To be more precise this AACCEE header in the request body is 3 bytes, but actual data payload starts after 4th byte. Unzipping data after 4th byte yields actual data that is sent over the network.
Unzipped data still has some binary artifacts plus some human readable text in form of bplist00 i.e. data is some binary plist.

Here is the description of the payload chunks:

Chunks starting with 0x020000xxxx are “plist” packets, xxxx being the size of the binary plist data that follows the header.

Chunks starting with 0x030000xxxx are “ping” packets, sent by the iPhone to Siri’s servers to keep the connection alive. Here xx is the ping sequence number.

Chunks starting with 0x040000xxxx are “pong” packets, sent by Siri’s server as a reply to ping packets. Without surprise, xx is the pong sequence number.

Deciphering the content of binary plists: Its easy, you can do it on Mac OS X with the “plutil” command-line tool. Or in ruby with the CFPropertyList gem on any platform.

How iPhone 4S talks with apple Servers:

The audio data: The iPhone 4S sends raw audio data compressed using the popular VoIP codex Speex audio.

Signature: The iPhone 4S sends identifiers everywhere. So if you want to use Siri on another device, you still need the identfier of at least one iPhone 4S. You would need one of the tools from below tool chain to extract that. But beware, Apple could blacklist an identifier.

The actual content: The protocol is actually very, very network chatty. Your iPhone sends a tons of things to Apple’s servers. And those servers reply an incredible amount of informations. For example, when you’re using text-to-speech, Apple’s server even reply a confidence score and the timestamp of each word.

Writing your own Siri-based Application for Android, iOS

You can download Applidium’s tool chain and get started with your own app that’s Siri enabled.

Step 1: Use iTunes to update your device to iOS 5.0.1.

Step 2: Open Redsn0w and select “Extras” and then “Select IPSW”, and point it to the iOS 5.0 firmware file, which can be downloaded from this link. Select the appropriate iOS 5 custom firmware that you downloaded for your device.

Howto Boot Tethered:

Launch Redsn0w, select “Extras”, followed by “Just Boot”. You will need to perform this action every time your device is switched off or rebooted.

Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0.1

If you rely on GEVEY SIM for unlocking iPhone 4, get ready to create a custom .IPSW, so that you can preserve your baseband.

Method: Run Redsn0w, select “Extras”, then “Custom IPSW”, then point Redsn0w to your iOS 5.0.1 file, and let Redsn0w do the rest. Next, enter pwned DFU mode (Extras > Pwned DFU) and restore to your custom firmware via iTunes. Once complete, you’ll be able to unlock your device with GEVEY.

Siri can do wonders, and amaze you with its answers, but hackers are making it even better.
Recently, Siri was ported to iPhone 4, iPod Touch and even iPhone 3GS.

Siri for Mac would the ultimate thing to dream of, but its far from reality. But there is a way Siri can be used to control your Mac. Using Siri on iPhone 4S you can deliver commands which are in turn performed by your desktop or MacBook through VNC client. You can easily ask Siri to do things like launching iTunes, Evernote.

iTeleport v5.2 is $19.99 and supports Siri dictation, allowing apps to be launched. Thats all you can do at the moment, but more commands are coming soon. This is only the first step, soon there would be games on iOS that will be compatible with Siri’s dictation.

Siri would soon make it to Apple TV, where it just makes more sense. You would be able to ask Siri if Transformers is being played on any channel or what news channel is talking about weather.

iControlPad had been teasing us since long now, but finally we get to see the finished product which supports both iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) & Android devices.

Originally, they planned to support just iPhone with a connector but later it was modified to work over bluetooth, making it compatible with almost any Smartphone out there over Bluetooth HID profile that works as a Joypad on un-jailbroken iPhone and Unrooted Android, of course.

The flash chip inside means that the firmware for the iControlPad can be upgraded and new features added as the years go on. The built-in 1350mAh battery powers the controller but can also connect to your phone directly and boost its battery life.

Best of all, iControlPad can play iCade games straight from the App Store without jailbreaking or it will run emulator software so you can play your favorite classics from various Emulators on Cydia. Android users will find hundreds of compatible apps in the Market.

iControlPad Specifications

Fully functional Bluetooth gaming controller for smartphones (but you can also use it with computers, tablets, and consoles – anything with Bluetooth!)

Compatible with almost every Bluetooth enabled smartphone

Hundreds of Android apps work with the iControlPad using Bluez IME, an input handling program. Also, games that support BT Gamepads or Keyboards and let you map keys will work out of the box with iControlPad.

Dual analog nubs, digital D-Pad, 6 face buttons, 2 rear buttons

Emulator software compatible with jailbroken iOS devices or Android/WebOS devices:

MD.emu

SNES9x EX

NES.emu

GBC.emu

PCE.emu (PC-Engine, Arcade like console)

NGP.emu (NeoGeo Pocket)

iMAME4ALL

FPSE

Universal holder attaches securely to almost any phone. The following models have been tested and definitely fit in the iControlPad:

iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S

iPod Touch 1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th Gen

Blackberry Torch

Galaxy2, Galaxy 2S

HTC Magic / MyTouch 3G

HTC Desire HD

LG Ally

LG Optimus S

Nexus One

Nokia N8

Zii Egg

Motorola Backflip

Developers have brought first successful port of Siri to older generation device: iPhone 4 & iPod Touch.

Initially, Not all of it worked, but from the progress we seen in early days, one thing was pretty clear: You don’t need an A5 to run Siri. Right now, Voice commands e.g. calling, texting a contact, finding map routes, setting alarm and reminders by voice works. What also works is Dictation. What didn’t work till very recent time, is the intelligent Answers. It seems like Apple servers were blocking these devices. But now, even apple servers have been pranked to assume its iPhone 4S, and it all works now.

Steven Troughton-Smith, managed to get Siri working with all of its features on older iOS devices such as the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G.

On the iPhone 4S launch date just a couple of weeks ago, we broke the news that developer Steven Troughton-Smith had successfully ported the Siri user-interface and some of the underlying code from the iPhone 4S onto the iPhone 4. The port was functional except for the most important part: talking to Apple’s servers. Now, Troughton-Smith has followed up with Chpwn to get the server fully working on an iPhone 4 and iPod touch.

Troughton-Smith initial brought just Siri GUI on iPhone 4, iPod Touch. After “following up” with developer chpwn, he has managed to trick Apple’s servers into accepting voice input from Siri on officially unsupported devices. This only became possible after iPhone Dev-Team managed to jailbreak iPhone 4S from which Troughton-Smith was able to extract necessary files to make Siri work.

Stay tuned, soon we will let you know How to Install Siri on iPhone 4, iPod Touch.

iOS 5 has already killed several reasons why you would like to jailbreak for but still there’s a lot you can do by Jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad. You can still jailbreak to get various notification bar widgets, custom unlock details, and many more.

Given the changes deep into the OS, chances are quite a few tweaks won’t be compatible with iOS 5. Bu there’s a handy spreadsheet showing users just which jailbreak apps and tweaks have been updated for iOS 5, or work as-is, out of the box.

We’ve said this before, and now re-iterating the fact that best feature of iPhone 4S is its camera & GPU. The new graphics processor is quiet powerful for rendering complex graphics.

From what we know about A5 from iPad 2, the embedded GPU is quiet powerful and beats dual core phones like Samsung Galaxy SII. SGS2 sports Exonys processor, which is not as powerful as Nvidia Tegra2. So, its pretty much to be seen if iPhone 4s’s A5 can beat Tegra2 GPU. Having played Tegra 2 games on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, I definitely feel Tegra 2 is quiet powerful with games that are designed exclusively for the Tegra platform.

However, Linpack benchmark gives us a totally different story: A5 on iPad 2 beats the hell out of Tegra 2 on Galaxy Tab & Xoom. However, in the real world Gaming on Tegra2 has that PC level feel to them, we hope to see the same in smaller form factor A5 device, iPhone 4S.

In both CPU and GPU performance Apple’s A5 processor left NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 in the dust, performing at least 2x faster and sometimes even 5x faster. So, the answer to the initial question – Apple is not only able to compete with other chipmakers, but as of now they have the best ARM dual-core processor on the market.

Firemint is teasing us with their latest game designed for iPhone 4s: Real Racing 2. Other than superb graphics, it can streaming not just one device to your big screen, but four – four-player streaming over AirPlay. The apps’ upcoming “Party Play” feature lets an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S play host to up to three additional iOS devices running the game, piping the stream for all four to your boob tube via Apple TV. The update also promises to make the most of the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S’A5 processor, kicking the graphics up a notch.

Apple demoed Infinity Blade 2 at the launch event, the graphics look breathtaking. the dynamic lighting is one of the best we’ve seen on phones, so far.

Apple has announced the successor of iPhone 4, iPhone 4S. The best features of the new iPhone include A5 dual core processor, Dual-core GPU and 8MP camera with 1080p video. But it looks exactly like iPhone 4. For those who don’t like the iPhone 4S brick form factor, you are out of luck till iPhone 5 comes out next year.

iPhone 4S comes with iOS5 pre-loaded, also available to existing iOS devices.

iPhone 4S Specs, Features

CPU: A5 Dual core ARM cortex 1Ghz

GPU: Dual core ARM, exact details foggy.

RAM: 1GB RAM

Camera: 8MP stills upto 2FPS, 1080p video with Image stabilisation.

Connectivity: 3.5G: upto 14mbps on GSM, CDMA

Battery: upto 8hours of talk time.

Wifi 802.11/abgn

Memory: 16, 32, 64GB.

Pricing: Here’s the US pricing for ”locked” 2 year contract phones. Unlocked ones would start from $799:

16gb = $199

32gb = $299

64gb = $399

Features:

Other than standard iOS 5, iCloud features, iPhone 4S will have:

Siri: Google voice search on android features basic commands like searching the web, finding map directions, sending SMS and more. A new feature known as the Assistant, is a new voice interface that will basically allow you to talk back and forth with your phone (like the HAL9000, but hopefully without trying to kill you). It’s called Siri, it’s exclusive to the iPhone 4S, and it looks amazing. You can ask it what the weather is like, and it will read the forecast to you. It will read your texts to you, and then you can dictate a response. You can even ask it to find you a restaurant and it will respond by ranking the restaurants in your target area. And it’s integrated into the phone’s apps, so you can talk instead of type without using a third-party dictation app like Dragon. As far as we’re concerned, this one feature saved this keynote from being a disappointment.

Other new apps: Apple also introduced Find My Friends, a Google Latitude equivalent intended to let you track your family and friends who also have iOS devices. There are simple privacy controls, as well as an end-of-the-day cutoff of tracking. There’s also Newsstand, a one-stop shop for all magazines and periodicals; basically, it’s the iBooks app for magazines.

Availability: The iPhone will be available on Verizon, AT&T and, for the first time, Sprint. Pre-orders start Friday on the Apple Store online, and the phone will ship and launch in stores on Oct. 14.

Should you buy iPhone 4?

Well answer depends on what you already own. If you already have iPhone 4, or a dual core android phone, you can skip this update. iPHone 3GS and older, grab this one now. Android lovers should probably wait for Samsung’s October 11th announcement. Who knows if Samsung has new ICS devices coming.

Every time you connect your iOS device to a power source (say, overnight for charging), it automatically syncs and backs up any new content to iTunes. So you always have your movies, TV shows, home videos, and photo albums everywhere you want them.

How to Enable Wireless Sync in iOS5

Make sure you’re running iTunes 10.5 or later on your computer. Connect your PC / Mac and iDevice to same Wifi, if not already.

Open iTunes, Plug in your iDevice into your computer. In summary tab under your connected device, check mark/enable the “Sync over Wi-Fi connection” option ad Sync it while USB still connected.

Now you can unplug the USB connection and sync with iTunes wirelessly over the same WiFi network from Settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync.

Enjoy!
