Everyone wants 3d, but without glasses. LG has been working on a glasses-free 3D display for smartphone. There was a 3D android Smartphone without glasses at CES, but its didn’t catch many eyes.

Very recently, the Optimus 3D phone was leaked to the web and its further presence is confirmed by the fact that LG would be announcing “into the new dimension” at MWC 2011.

The Optimus 3D could actually be on par with Motorola ATRIX 4g phone.

Till now one of the main problems with 3D screens is lack of 3D content, LG singlehandedly solves the problem by allowing you to create your own 3D content.

Few facts about the LG Optimus 3D:

The device is larger than 4″, perhaps 4.3″ or 5 inches and gives full visual 3D experience that wows.

Dual Core Processor & Multi-channel RAM - this is definitely better on specs than the Optimus 2X.

Front facing camera

Optimus 3D will also include a dual-lens camera for 3D RECORDING, shooting 3D photos.

Here is the full press release:

LG TO UNVEIL WORLD’S FIRST FULL 3D SMARTPHONE AT MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS 2011
3D Recording-Viewing-Sharing of Life’s Precious Moments Anytime, Anywhere

SEOUL, Feb. 1, 2011 - At this year’s Mobile World Congress, LG will unveil the LG Optimus 3D the world’s first 3D smartphone offering consumers a full 3D experience right in the palm of their hands.

The LG Optimus 3D addresses the lack of 3D content issue – one of the biggest problems facing the 3D market – with a complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device. LG’s most advanced smartphone to date will feature a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing and diverse connectivity options such as HDMI and DLNA for 3D content sharing anytime, anywhere.

Further details and a live demo of the LG Optimus 3D will be offered at Booth #8B178 at MWC in Barcelona from February 14 to 17.

We heard lot about thinnest laptops, phones, here’s the thinnest Smartphone that comes from LG.

The phone feels sharp, at only 9.2mm thick, plastic body with a smooth matte back. It feels classier than the slick plastic back on the Samsung Vibrant.

LG Optimus Black is slimmest Android smartphone with a super-bright LCD screen. The Black’s “Nova” display uses the same IPS LCD technology as the Apple iPhone 4, but has a lower resolution of 800×480 on a 4-inch screen. According to LG, the display is the brightest display ever made on a phone delivering 700 nits of brightness, which is HUGE as compared to 500 nits on the iPhone 4 and 300 nits on the Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Galaxy S. Of course, it doesn’t beat the contrast ratio AMOLED has.

The Optimus Black has world’s First 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and First phone to have Wifi-Direct , the new ad-hoc networking protocol which will allow Wi-Fi-powered devices to find each other easily.

LG is taking DLNA seriously, and has integrated it deep into its’s Custom Android OS. As far as other specs are concerned, it has a 1Ghz TI OMAP 3630 processor, a 5-megapixel camera on the back, 2GB of internal storage, and a 1500 mAh battery.

The phone has some unique stuff going on underneath it, but LG’s Optimus 2X dual core Nvidia Tegra2 might be revolutionary. Optimus 2X is a perfect gaming device, best we’ve seen so far.

At the time of launch, Optimus Black will ship with Android 2.2, “Froyo,” and later upgrade to 2.3, “Gingerbread.”

LG is leading its ways for 3D TVs, launching technology ahead of time.

LG has invented a new Technology called FPR or Film Patterned Retarder. FPR is said to be most superior 3D liquid crystal display (LCD) systems.

What’s different in FPR

The current generation system uses a frame sequential method and the display is viewed using liquid crystal shutter glasses (SG). The new technology uses a polarized film substrate in the panel and is viewed using polarized film glasses. FPR reduces the vertical resolution to half that of a panel and produces a near-4K resolution full high definition 3D picture that is extremely sharp and bright. The system was demoed on an 84-inch display, playing a 4x times 1080p HD video.

It argues that the current generation of Shutter Glasses (SG) 3D panels have problems with the weight of the shutter glasses, power consumption and reduced brightness. By contrast, LG Display’s new FPR technology has no flickering, produces minimal cross talk (the blurry ghosting image) and delivers a brighter screen. This allows for 3D glasses to be lighter, polarized and more curved like regular glasses.

The polarized film glasses eliminate the flicker and crosstalk problems and neither do they require power from batteries or USB charge and hence are more comfortable. This would also remove synchronization errors, and occasional interruptions.

The step is evolutionary, and not by any means revolutionary. 3D TVs without Glasses would be the revolution. But achieving 4K resolution in 3D is the next big thing.

So you thought projectors are only power hungry appliances that can’t be made mobile? guess LG is here to prove you wrong.

LG’s eXpo can be called as the first non-Chinese phone to grab the commercial market with a projector in a smartphone. Apart fromt he projector, the phone is powered by Customized Windows Mobile 6.5, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a built-in fingerprint sensor, a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera and an optional Pico Projector ( about $179 extra ), HSPA connectivity of up to 7.2mbps and a QWERTY keyboard that slides out..

Overall, the UI and all have been highly customized by LG. The interface is sluggish despite having a powerful 1Ghz processor. The same Qualcomm processor pwoers SonyEricsson XPERIA X10, Sony XPERIA X3 and HTC HD2, but LG eXpo loses big over all of them.

With Projector + fingerprint sensor, looks like the device is targeted for Business users. On the other side playing movies works like a charm. The display is as good as any other Pico projector out there in the market, it’s smooth and clear (better than what you can see in the video below)

The first transparent unique keypad phone is out. LG GD900 Crystal, which is billed as the world’s first transparent-design phone, and the transparent screen is as cool as we hoped and unexpectedly quiet feature-full.

The GD900 Crystal is a slider phone and features a 3-inch touch screen, with a hyped transparent keypad that lights up when opened. The keypad is a touch-sensitive controller which means you can use it to move through menus, navigate the Web, and even write using handwriting recognition.
LG has thrown in gesture support too. It looked to me like iPhone/iPod controls. You can launch applications with a swipe around the keypad. This includes multitouch, as does the main display, so you can pinch your fingers to zoom in to a photo or map.
If this is a touch-happy overload, you can also use it normally, to dial phone calls, and there’s vibrating feedback to let you know when you’ve hit the flat numbers.
Photos: Looking through the LG GD900 Crystal

So what’s the point of having two touch screens? The reasoning goes that if you’re basking in the glory of the GD900’s screen watching a video, for example–you don’t want to block the action by waving your sausage fingers over the screen to zoom or rewind. And it’s pretty freaking cool, too.
The GD900 uses the same S-class user interface we’ve seen on the LG Arena. One of our biggest complaints about the Arena was that the touch screen wasn’t as responsive as we’d like, but based on the phones we tried, it’s running with more vim and vigor on the GD900. The little spinning cube is still useless, but there are about five different ways to access each feature, and adding gestures means there should be a user-interface option for every user, if they can be bothered to learn them all.
We found gestures and handwriting recognition were accurate and responsive, and although we wouldn’t use it for long texts, we could see handwriting coming in handy when you want to enter a few words in a Web form without fiddling with predictive text on the alphanumeric keypad. Like the Arena, the transparent handset is no slouch when it comes to features. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera, expandable memory up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, and HSDPA for speedy Web surfing.
It’s not sure whether the phone will ship with a tempered glass keypad or a hard plastic one, we’re rooting for glass, although the plastic version we saw looked fine but either way, we’re looking forward to looking at stuff through it.
The see-though wonder will be available starting July for UK. It’s not yet available with any U.S. carriers, but consumers in the States should be able to buy it unlocked.
