			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For the person who is beyond all the praise, an ideal for millions, there exists shady dark sides. We respect him for being the biggest innovator of the century, revolutionizing the User Experience in consumer electronics, forever. But its true, no one is perfect.</p>
<p><a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/steve-jobs">Steve Jobs</a>&#8216; official biography talks about several dark sides of Steve Jobs, which none of us probably heard about before. He was capable of incredible cruelty, total self-delusion, ruthless competitiveness, arrogance, and a beehive of <strong>stealing ideas</strong>.  It&#8217;s probably the most raw profile the world has ever seen on Jobs &#8211; for better, or for worse.  And it also offers a rather naked commentary about success.</p>

<p><strong>1. Copy Innovation</strong></p>
<p>Steve said that he was ready to go “thermonuclear” war on Android, an operating system he saw as a “stolen product.” Truth be discussed, <em>what did Android really copy from iOS</em>? The interface and the OS architecture are quiet different from each other. Its like comparing Mac OS to Linux, both have similar underlying Unix, everything else is different: Kernel, framework, libraries, JVM vs. Native framework, UI and Touch interfaces. Even if some of it is similar, Android was developed independently by a startup named Android under supervision of Andy Rubin. It was later acquired by Google and modified for good.</p>
<p>For a moment, lets assume Android was a copy. Was Macintosh not a copy of Xerox&#8217;s OS ? Steve shamelessly copied each aspect of Xerox&#8217;s User Interface and called it Mac OS. Steve J. agrees he copied, why in the world is he so furious about Android copying iOS?</p>

<p><strong>2. Steal the Credit, and never be humble</strong></p>
<p>Steve Jobs was famous for stealing the credit of his subordinates. Apple&#8217;s famous designer, Jonathan Ive, was frustrated because Steve was constantly taking credit for his ideas.  It was a recurring problem, with incredibly talented executives complaining that Jobs took all the credit for Apple&#8217;s game-changing innovations.  &#8220;I pay maniacal attention to where an idea comes from, and I even keep notebooks filled with my ideas,&#8221; Ive said.  &#8220;So it hurts when he takes credit for one of my designs.&#8221;</p>
<p>Perhaps the worst story surrounds Daniel Kottke, who was there with Jobs at Reed College, travelled with him in India, and was one of the first Apple employees in the garage.  But when Apple went public, Jobs refused to give him any shares because of his technical status within the company &#8211; despite the protests of other high-ranking employees.</p>
<p>Kottke was unfortunately subdued and didn&#8217;t push &#8211; until it became too much.  &#8220;And at one point, [Kottke] tries to go to Steve and just starts crying,&#8221; Isaacson told 60 Minutes.  &#8220;But Steve can be very cold about these things.  Finally, one of the engineers at Apple said, you know, &#8216;We have to take care of your buddy Daniel.  I&#8217;ll give him some stock, if you match it or whatever.&#8217;  And Jobs says, &#8216;Yeah, I&#8217;ll match it.  I&#8217;ll give zero, you give zero.&#8217;&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>3. Bad Son, Poor Father</strong></p>
<p>This may be on the personal side, but its not to be ignored. Steve Jobs never met his Biological father.</p>
<p>In 1978, Steve Jobs had a daughter (his first) with girlfriend Chrisann Brennan, a painter.  Jobs adamantly refused paternity, though a judge ultimately forced Jobs to pay support.</p>
<p>When Lisa was young, Steve, her father, almost never came to see her.  &#8216;I didn&#8217;t want to be a father, so I wasn&#8217;t,&#8217; Jobs said, with only a touch of remorse in his voice.&#8221;</p>

<p>Jobs submitted his resignation letter to Apple&#8217;s board of directors today,  even though most investors and apple fans believe its impossible to run the company without him. Apple has been driven by his charismatic vision and leadership. Jobs was the master mind behind all successful Apple products: iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and what not.</p>
<p>He has been unwell and taken time off rom his regular work, during which Tim Cook had handled the company. He was rightly named <a href="http://geeknizer.com/steve-jobs-ceo-of-the-decade-fortune/">CEO of the decade</a>.</p>
<p>He is idol for generations to come, we wish him the very best</p>

<p>I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple&#8217;s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.</p>
<p>I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.</p>

<p><strong>On Surpassing Microsoft, Thoughts on Flash:</strong> Jobs said that Apple surpassing Microsoft in market valuation is &#8220;surreal,&#8221; &#8220;it doesn&#8217;t really mean anything.&#8221; He batted aside the usual questions about Flash, Adobe, and his &#8220;Thoughts on Flash&#8221; essay, still endorsing HTML5 as the future of web and ditching Flash as a slow and closed platform. He said if Flash was what custoemrs needed, why is iPad selling like crazy at 1 iPad sold every 3 seconds.</p>
<p><strong>Future of PCs: </strong>On the subject of PCs, he said they&#8217;d taken us a long way, then made a trucks vs. cars analogy, explaining that, before people built metropolises, they drove trucks, because they needed the boxy utility. But now they drive cars. Only one in a certain number of people still need trucks. PCs are the trucks. Macs are cars. You getting this?</p>
<p><strong>Gizmodo iPhone Leak: </strong>One of the most interesting pieces of Apple-related news in the company&#8217;s history is Apple&#8217;s feud and possible legal action against Gizmodo over the allegedly stolen iPhone scandal. Jobs framed the situation by saying &#8220;they bought stolen property and tried to extort [Apple],&#8221; which makes it pretty clear that Apple will continue to pursue the case through legal means. He also joked about the juiciness of the whole saga. &#8220;It&#8217;s got theft. It&#8217;s got buying stolen property. It&#8217;s got extortion. I&#8217;m sure there&#8217;s some sex in there,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Somebody should make a movie out of this.&#8221;</p>
<p>he was advised to let it slide, adding, &#8220;You shouldn&#8217;t go after a journalist just because they bought stolen property and tried to extort you,&#8221; but said he ultimately felt like the whole thing went against Apple&#8217;s &#8220;core values.&#8221; He said he&#8217;d &#8220;rather quit&#8221; than let it slide.</p>

<p><strong>On  Google TV &amp; Problems with Set-top-boxes</strong></p>
<p>The television industry fundamentally has a subsidized business model that gives everyone a set-top box, and that pretty much undermines innovation in the sector. Ask TiVo, ask Roku, ask Google in a few months. The only way this is going to change is if you start from scratch, tear up the box, redesign and get it to the consumer in a way that they want to buy it. But right now, there’s no way to do that….The TV is going to lose until there’s a viable go-to-market strategy.</p>
<p>He explains that this is why he still calls Apple TV a &#8220;hobby&#8221;: television can&#8217;t fully connect and integrate with the Internet given the cable companies&#8217; control of set-top boxes. Google&#8217;s attempt, remember, takes a new approach by often staying out of sight, but Jobs seems to think that option won&#8217;t see much more success than Windows Media Center or any of the other attempts at connecting televisions.</p>

<p><strong>On Google And Android: Apple vs. Google</strong></p>
<p>Steve has often complained about this: &#8220;We didn&#8217;t stepped into Google&#8217;s search. but they stepped into our domain by entering Mobile market.&#8221; He is way to annoyed by that. They are not ditching Google search on iPhone and iPad.</p>
<p>About Android, he complains about the quality and fragmentation.</p>
<p>Jobs didn’t rail on Google as conflict-loving journos might have  hoped, but he did let some emotion shine through when interviewer Walt  Mossberg asked if Jobs and Apple felt betrayed by Google’s entry into  the mobile market with Android. <a href="http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/01/steve-jobs-on-googles-android-betrayal-my-sex-life-is-pretty-good/" target="_blank">Jobs’ response</a>: “My sex life is pretty good.”</p>

Continuing further he said &#8220;If you believe in openness and choice, welcome to Android.&#8221;</p>
<p>Google has already announced some great features for its next <a href="www.taranfx.com/iphone-4-vs-android-2-2">Android OS 2.2 Froyo</a>, a giant step ahead of eclair.</p>
<p>We compared the latest<a href="www.taranfx.com/iphone-4-vs-android-2-2"> <strong>iPhone OS 4.0 vs. Android 2.2 Froyo</strong></a> back-to-back and without a doubt, Android is leading. With a great move from Google, All eyes are on Apple&#8217;s upcoming <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/wwdc">WWDC </a>2010 (June 7th).  Apple has already  announced that CEO Steve Jobs will be delivering the Keynote in San Francisco.</p>
<p>Every one is questioning, and one Apple Fan couldn&#8217;t hold it back and mailed Steve Jobs asking &#8220;I hope you have some good WWDC announcements to blow [Google] out of the water&#8221; .</p>
<p><a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/steve-jobs">Steve Jobs</a>, continuing his trend of doing one-to-one e-mail marketing for his $43 billion (revenue) company, replied gracefully, &#8220;You won&#8217;t be disappointed,&#8221; the CEO responded, as per <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2010/05/23/steve-jobs-on-wwdc-announcements-you-wont-be-disappointed/" target="new">MacRumors</a>.</p>
<p>Every one acknowledges, Gizmodo may have spoiled the surprise this year by leaking the <a href="http://geeknizer.com/iphone-hd-specs">iPhone HD /4g prototype</a>. However, over an email exchange with a customer,  Jobs said the <strong>Event would still pack a punch</strong>.</p>
<p>Apart from the new iPhone Hardware, Apple is expected to reveal full details on its nextgen Os<a href="http://geeknizer.com/iphone-os-4-0-features"> iPhone OS 4.0</a> which was previewed back in march with s<a href="http://geeknizer.com/iphone-os-4-0-features">upport for multitasking</a> and 100s of other features.</p>
<p><a href="http://geeknizer.com/google-vs-apple-war">Apple vs. Google</a> Heat is sky high, and there doesn&#8217;t seem to be any chance that it would be coming down. Will Apple regain the lead in the innovation of smartphone market? If Steve says so, we believe it. After all, Apple developed the device that was lonely at the top for 3 long years, its time for them to regain the position.</p>

Google and Apple had worked together to bring Google&#8217;s search and mapping services to the iPhone and Schmidt joked that the collaboration was so close that the two men should simply merge their companies and call them &#8220;AppleGoo.&#8221;</p>
<p>It was all cold and deepened relationship. And today the same-thing has taken a 180 degree turn as Google proves out to be successful with it&#8217;s mobile operating system, <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/android">Android</a>. Things started taking a turn when Google acquired a startup called Android and started developing their own mobile <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/os">OS</a>. It was then visioned to be a <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/microsoft">Microsoft </a>killer, kicking Microsoft&#8217;s <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/windows-mobile">Windows Mobile</a> out from the market. But sooner and later Google improved the Android OS and revealed <a href="http://geeknizer.com/tag/motorola-droid">Motorola Droid</a>, which was touted to be &#8216;iPhone Killer&#8217;. Things warmed up at Apple and Google&#8217;s continuous attempts to capture mobile market let Apple board directors to decide that they are <a href="http://geeknizer.com/google-goes-against-apple-ceo-schimt-leaves-the-board">better of without Eric Schimdt as he no longer is considered a partner for the company</a>.</p>
<p>In the last six months, Apple and Google have fought over acquisitions, patents, directors, advisers and iPhone applications.  This month<a href="http://geeknizer.com/apple-iphone-patent-htc-android">, Apple sued HTC</a>, the biggest manufacturer for Google&#8217;s Android operating system, contending that HTC had violated iPhone patents. The step is largely considered to be <a href="http://geeknizer.com/apple-iphone-patent-htc-android">personally on the Google&#8217;s Android than HTC</a>, due to obvious reasons. Admob, the company Apple had been considering for <a href="http://geeknizer.com/google-admod-gizmo5">acquiring to drive it&#8217;s mobile advertising</a> went into hands of Google.</p>
<p>Google&#8217;s promotion of Android is, essentially, an effort to control its destiny in the mobile world. While the discord between Apple and Google is in part philosophical and involves enormous financial stakes, Google&#8217;s approach is more open and partners a lot of firms under the OHA.</p>
<p>At the heart of the dispute, Mr. Jobs believes that Google violated the alliance between the companies by producing cellphones that physically, technologically and spiritually resembled the iPhone. He feels that his former friends at Google picked his pocket. At a All-hands meeting to internal employees, Steve said &#8220;We did not enter the search business. They entered the phone business,&#8221;  &#8220;Make no mistake: Google wants to kill the iPhone. We won&#8217;t let them.&#8221; Jobs even commented that &#8220;Don&#8217;t be evil is Bullshit&#8221;<a href="http://geeknizer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/google-vs-apple.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-4306" title="google-vs-apple" src="http://geeknizer.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/google-vs-apple.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="223" /></a></p>
<p>However, Apple declined to comment for this article. Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google&#8217;s co-founders, have openly expressed admiration for Mr. Jobs, and Google says it isn&#8217;t at war with its former ally. &#8220;Apple is a valued partner, and we have great respect for everything they have done for technology for more than 30 years,&#8221;. Schmidt concurred. &#8220;I continue to believe, as many do, that <a href="http://geeknizer.com/steve-jobs-ceo-of-the-decade-fortune">Steve Jobs is the best C.E.O. in the world</a> today, and I admire Apple and Steve enormously,&#8221;.</p>
<p>Despite what looks from outside, industry experts predict that it&#8217;s going to get uglier. David B. Yoffie, a professor at Harvard Business School who has studied the tech industry for decades. He says &#8220;To beat Apple, Google is going to have to be very aggressive. If they are successful, it will put price pressure on Apple and the iPhone.&#8221;. Another expert said  &#8220;It&#8217;s World War III. Amazing animosity is motivating two of the most powerful people in the industry,&#8221; he says. &#8220;This is emotional. This is the biggest ego battle in history. It&#8217;s incendiary.&#8221; THE fight features two Valley veterans whose styles couldn&#8217;t be more different.</p>
<p>Despite what they feel individually, there are few instances where their business needs each other. e.g. Google pays Apple millions of dollars annually to make its search engine the default on Apple&#8217;s Web browser, on the iPhone and soon, perhaps, on the iPad. (Though there were rumors of iPhone switching to Bing, that looks unusual). On the other front, Google employees work and develop product on Apple&#8217;s platform: Mac. It&#8217;s not hard to see that 90% of the employees carry a MacBook instead of a PC.</p>
<p>The war is on and its almost impossible that anyone would fall. On one side Steve Jobs will continue to vision his company to be a leader in Mobile space, Google will leave no chance either. For the end-user it&#8217;s all choice and Openness that they working independently or together will bring. The Latter will bring peace.</p>

<p>Previously, he had been off from company <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/jobs-considering-liver-transplant-wants-to-be-left-alone" target="_blank">due to health reasons</a>, but then he <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/steve-is-bak-rock-apple-what-happens-to-cook" target="_blank">came back in June, he just Rocked Apple</a>.</p>

<p>As usual, Apple hasn&#8217;t confirmed a thing except the Event time and Venue.</p>
<p>Ok, let&#8217;s start, I`ll keep it brief.</p>
<h3>New iPods</h3>
<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://larryfire.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/new-ipod-touch-camera.jpg" alt="" width="192" height="312" /></p>
<p>Apple’s September events since, their very begining have revolved around around iPods and iTunes.</p>
<p>Not to mention, there is enough evidence that <strong>camera and microphone on Touch are being added</strong>. There are <a href="http://covinoandrich.com/blog/index.php/2009/08/14/814-the-covino-and-rich-show-starring-little-stevie-c/" target="_blank">leaked Pics, Videos which confirm this</a>.</p>
<p>But there is a news from <a href="http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/09/07/technical_issues_could_delay_ipod_camera_upgrade.html" target="_blank">AppleInsider</a> that claims, Cameras might be <strong>delayed due to Technical Difficulties</strong>, till next launch in 2010.</p>
<p>However, we’re doubting the iPod Classic will gain a camera. Instead, we might see something new. <strong>End of Life for iPod Classic</strong>.</p>
<p><em>One more thing:</em> Highly probable that The iPod Touch will get a <strong>performance boost</strong> to bring it up to speed with the new iPhone 3GS.</p>
<p>You never know about One more things.</p>

<h3>iTunes 9</h3>
<p>An update to version 9 is very likely. A <a href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/08/08/apple-itunes-9-details-blu-ray-app-organization/">rumor report</a> claiming iTunes 9<img class="alignright" src="http://www.bandwidthblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/itunes-9-social.jpg" alt="" width="270" height="200" /> would sport new visual organization features to arrange iPhone apps.</p>
<p>First, it’s almost guaranteed that Apple will announce a new version of iTunes, iTunes 9. Most likely this new version will improve the interface, address concerns with organizing iPhone apps, and include music sharing features via <span>Twitter</span>, Faebook, and Last.fm.</p>
<p>The other announcement could be that The Beatles are finally going to be downloadable in the iTunes store. The date of Apple’s keynote adds fuel to the fire of this rumor – it is the same day of the launch of The Beatles Rock Band, which itself is a reference to <em>Revolution 9</em>.  A deal struck earlier this year between Apple and the storied rock band also makes this announcement a likely one.</p>
<p>A visual-organization tool would definitely make sense — it would mimic the ability to move around the iPhone’s icons on its springboard. We find Facebook integration probable as well. The latest versions of QuickTime, iPhoto and iMovie each have features that enable sharing media with social networks (i.e., YouTube and Flickr). And in general, an automatic playlist creator integrated in Facebook just sounds like a pretty clever idea.</p>
<p>The collaborative effort codenamed <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1479" target="_blank">Project Cocktail</a>, and the idea is to entice music fans with a compelling digital package that will get them to gather around notebooks to listen to music together. How exactly would album art do that? It’s unclear. However, <em>Financial Times</em> is a credible publication with solid music sources. Expect this part of the keynote to deliver the biggest surprise.</p>
<h3>No Apple Tablet</h3>

<p>Though the release of an Apple touchscreen tablet now seems inevitable, <strong>it probably won’t appear at this event, </strong><a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1735" target="_blank">that&#8217;s scheduled for 2010</a>. Tomorrow’s Apple keynote is a music-centric event focused on iPods and iTunes, not on a brand new computing product. It also appears to need a bit more time before it’s ready for the market.</p>
<p>Don’t hold your breath for a Tablet surprise, because you’ll probably pass out. Still, anything’s possible and the Tablet could blow us all away.</p>
<p>It could make 2010 a very exciting year. 2010 would be the year of the tablet, claiming Dell, Intel, HTC and other tech companies are preparing tablets to compete with Apple.</p>
<h3>iPhone</h3>
<p>No, nothing new for iPhone atleast on the hardware side.  But, you’re likely to hear more about the<a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1346" target="_blank"> </a><strong><a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1346" target="_blank">iPhone 3.1 OS</a></strong> upgrade which will provide &#8211; <strong>Bluetooth voice control</strong> and <strong>improved video editing controls</strong> should be part of the package. And while releasing the <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?tag=iphone" target="_blank">iPhone </a>3.1 OS during the keynote would make sense followed by activation bundle of MMS for AT&amp;T customers, which would make its release date September 25th.</p>
<h3>The Rise of The Fallen: Steve Jobs</h3>
<p>More than anything else, we all miss Steve Jobs. Nobody can<img class="alignright" src="http://www.ismashphone.com/images/2008/08/01/steve_jobs_collarpopped.jpg" alt="" width="254" height="200" /> deliver a keynote better than the God of Apple: Steve. when Steve speaks, the world Listens.</p>
<p>CNBC’s Jim Goldman said on Twitter that Jobs is “very likely” to appear at the Apple event. That’s good news, and if true, his return would make this a very momentous event.</p>

<p>Since his return in late June, the 54-year-old has been pouring  almost all of his attention into a new touch-screen gadget that Apple is  developing, said people familiar with the situation.</p>
<p>Those working on the project are under intense scrutiny from Mr.  Jobs, particularly with regard to the product&#8217;s advertising and  marketing strategy, said one of these people. The people familiar with  the matter declined to give details on the tablet or disclose when the  device would come out.</p>
<p><span>Apple staffers have faced Jobs&#8217; scrutiny after a  period  of freedom over product strategy during his leave. &#8220;People have had  to readjust&#8221; to his presence, noted the Journal, quoting a person  familiar with the matter.</span></p>
<p>Mr. Jobs, in an email, said &#8220;much of your information is incorrect,&#8221;  but didn&#8217;t provide specifics. A spokesman for Apple, Cupertino, Calif.,  declined to comment.</p>
<p>Mr. Jobs&#8217;s involvement is a sign of how important the new gadget is  for Apple. In the months before Apple launched the iPhone in 2007 &#8212; now  its fastest-growing product &#8212; the CEO was also on top of every detail,  such as the curvature of the phone&#8217;s back, said people familiar with  the matter.</p>
<p>Since then, Apple has updated several of its product lines, including  the iPhone and its Macintosh laptops, but hasn&#8217;t launched an entirely  new category. And while the company has recently posted a string of  strong quarterly earnings, growth in some of its once hot devices, such  as the iPod, has slowed.<img class="alignright" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2566/3861564981_c9dd0e2cae.jpg" alt="" width="206" height="250" /></p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: left;">s rumors of an Apple tablet PC reach a fever pitch, a new research note by Piper Jaffray suggests that any such device would be a significant revenue generator and drastically affect the market for mininotebooks, also known as netbooks.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: left;">The Aug. 7 report, written by analyst Gene Munster along with analysts Michael Olson and Andrew Murphy, predicts that Apple will roll out “a touch-screen device similar to an iPod Touch but larger.”</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: left;">The report stated, “We spoke with an Asian component supplier that has received orders from Apple for a touch-screen device to be fulfilled by late [2009]. This data point underscores our thesis that a tablet will likely launch in early [2010].”</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: left;">Piper Jaffray has been steadily beating the drum for months about the prospect of an ultraportable Apple tablet PC. In May, the research company issued a report suggesting that the tablet would feature a 7- to 10-inch screen and retail for between $500 and $700, effectively filling a strategic gap for Apple between the iPod Touch and its low-end Mac desktops.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: left;">The Aug. 7 report reiterates those points, and suggests, “Apple will target the netbook market with its new device.”</p>

<p>Apple hasn&#8217;t made any public statements about Mr. Jobs&#8217;s health since  he returned to work in late June, but the CEO has come into  headquarters two or three days a week as the company had previously  disclosed.</p>
<p>People close to Apple said Mr. Jobs is still thin as he recovers from  the liver transplant, but his health has improved significantly.</p>

<p>Tablet PCs have been around since earlier this decade when Microsoft Corp. launched an  operating system for such devices. The gadgets, which typically  resemble a laptop, were supposed to make computing more natural with a  touch-screen that can be controlled with a stylus or finger.</p>
<p>Despite attempts by manufacturers like Toshiba Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co. and  Fujitsu Ltd., the market didn&#8217;t take off as the devices were too  expensive and didn&#8217;t offer additional features. According to research  firm IDC, tablets comprise about 1.4% of the global portable PC market.<br />

<p>At Apple, a tablet-like device has been  many years in the making. Apple filed a patent related to a tablet  device as early as 2000, according to a Thomson Reuters patent database.</p>
<p>But development has come in fits and starts. Mr. Jobs killed the  project twice in recent years, the first time because the battery life  was too short, and the second time because there was insufficient  memory, said one of the people familiar with the matter.</p>
<p>Though Apple doesn&#8217;t discuss future products, many analysts expect  its tablet to be a multimedia device that will let people watch movies  and television shows, play games, surf the Internet and potentially read  electronic books and newspapers.</p>
<p>It is not clear whether the device will run the full Macintosh  operating system or a version of the iPhone operating system. Apple  watchers expect the tablet to debut at the end of this year or early  next year.</p>
<p>Analysts say how well an Apple tablet sells will depend on price,  which most believe will be between $399, the price of a high-end iPod  touch, and $999, the price of the cheapest MacBook laptop.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;As devices become more expensive, your ability to make them mass  market declines,&#8221; said Toni Sacconaghi, an analyst with Sanford C.  Bernstein &amp; Co.</p></blockquote>
<p>The popularity of cheap and light computers under $500 known as  netbooks has pressured Apple to come out with a device in a similar  price range.</p>
<p>But as recently as last October, Mr. Jobs rejected the idea of a  cheaper computer in an earnings call, saying, &#8220;We don&#8217;t know how to make  a $500 computer that&#8217;s not a piece of junk.&#8221;</p>

<p>Apple doesn&#8217;t have a healthy relationship particularly with the press; it has sued websites for publishing information it didn&#8217;t like, and has tried to keep information under wraps that a journalist tried to uncover via the Freedom of Information Act. Now, however, it has <a href="http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article6797859.ece" target="_blank">tried to prevent The Times from publishing an article about Steve Jobs</a>.</p>
<p>The article in question is not really anything to get all excited about. It details Steve Jobs&#8217; personal and professional life, including the hiring of Sculley and Jobs leaving Apple, all the way until Jobs returning to the company and bringing it back on its feet with the iMac, iPod, and iPhone. It also details Jobs&#8217; control-freak attitude and his allegedly narcissist personality.</p>
<p>The article also details Jobs&#8217; health situation, as well what would happen if Jobs eventually left the company. There&#8217;s nothing in there we didn&#8217;t know already, so for us geeks it&#8217;s not particularly interesting.</p>
<p>Still, the author claims Apple tried to block the article from getting published. This is what the author wrote about Apple&#8217;s attempts, copied here verbatim:</p>
<div class="cquote">The secrecy is all about preserving the magic of each new product. Apple hates personality stuff and press intrusion. &#8220;We want to discourage profiles,&#8221; an Apple PR tells me stiffly, apparently unaware she is waving a sackful of red rags at a herd of bulls. Another PR rings the editor of this magazine to try to halt publication of this piece.</div>
<p>I&#8217;m reminded of the classic case of the &#8220;Parental advisory &#8211; explicit content&#8221; labels on music CDs. What happened when the RIAA started putting these labels on CDs? Exactly &#8211; they sold more copies. This Apple case is the same: had Apple not tried to stop the article from getting published, no one would&#8217;ve cared about it.</p>

This intends to convey the same message but in a new way.</p>

Why the heck this irony?<br />
Its against the serenity.</p>
<p>You know what metal you are,<br />
You know what you aspire!<br />

<p><strong>&#8211; MEANING &#8211;</strong><br />
Things that are defined by Nature, go in a way they are supposed to be. Its only the human nature to behave strange on different occassions.</p>
<p>If its a fault in humans, let&#8217;s talk about the man made stuff, Even that follows the command, works in a way it&#8217;s meant to be. It does its best, technically, though it lacks Intelligence. (&#8220;Ruby rails&#8221; here refers to programming languages).</p>
<p>Why in this world the problem is with humans? Is it that we are too much supressed by Ego and Un-Willingness?<br />
You and you alone know what your capabilities are. You know how far can you go to achieve what you aspire, and how much can you prespire to achieve it. Definately, its a measure of your desperation.</p>
<p>We all know, There are no Miracles, there&#8217;s no reason that you don&#8217;t make effort to achieve the Goals. There is no reason to rather sitback and rely on fortunate luck, which might not come out to be that fortunate (unluckily).</p>
<p>Bryan adams one said, &#8220;There ain&#8217;t no santa clause. There ain&#8217;t no fairy tales, Its a lonely road to paradise&#8221;. You cannot predict the future&#8230; <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle" target="_blank">Oracle </a>won&#8217;t come and help you in that. You gotta make it on your own!!!</p>
<p>Stay all your life aspiring for something without trying hard enough to get it, without taking enough risk.<br />
What are you afraid of? Is it the Death?. If is, take my word, don&#8217;t be, coz you have no idea when it is coming your way. You are already Naked, there&#8217;s no reason to be afraid of not trying hard enough and taking the required risk.<br />
By not doing this all, you ain&#8217;t foolling anybody. You are fooling yourself!</p>

<p>This moment is worth celebration for the team back at Apple, who had made world&#8217;s biggest mobile platform, iPhone. App Store was released exactly a year back and within this span, 65,000+ Applications have been listed in the App Store varying from How to find your Phone to <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1313" target="_blank">best 3D Games</a> on the mobile platform. The no. of downloads has shown the REAL popularity of App Store. It completed <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=479" target="_blank">a Billion downloads in 9+ months</a> and 1.5 <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?tag=billion" target="_blank">billion</a> in 1 year, and the rise is exponential in last few months.</p>

Jobs said:</p>
<blockquote><p>“With 1.5 billion apps downloaded, it is going to be very hard for others to catch up.”</p></blockquote>
<p>The App Store is one of the primary reasons that the iPhone has been a hit. It is said that Apple is likely to deliver better-than-expected iPhone sales for its June quarter. Munster writes:</p>
<blockquote><p>We believe upside to Mac and iPhone units could help Apple beat Street estimates for the Jun-09 quarter. Our survey of 256 iPhone buyers, along with indications from AT&amp;T leave us confident in our iPhone est of 5 million in the June quarter vs. the Street at about 4 million.</p></blockquote>
<p>The big picture here is that the <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?tag=appstore" target="_blank">App Store</a> has rewritten the rules in the wireless business and Jobs knows it. Apple has first mover advantage and isn’t likely to ease up. As Bernstein analyst Craig Moffett noted Apple has been very disruptive to the wireless industry and the fun is just beginning.</p>
<p>The industry tug of war will revolve around devices and carriers as dumb pipes. Indeed, consumers are increasingly thinking of their smartphone as application delivery devices more than handheld for email and phone calls. The vendors that make apps easy will win. Wireless carriers see the shifts coming and some such as Verizon Wireless are already playing around with an application marketplace, according to GigaOm.</p>
<p>Simply put, carriers have no desire to be a dumb pipe to deliver access. Apple’s march could easily relegate carriers to dumb pipe status. It’s an interesting development that will take years to play out.</p>

His return is the most anticipated thing these days int he industry. Its like a Pheonix, which reborns from its ashes. There were rumors that Steve might not return and his descendants like Cook would carry the company on their shoulders.</p>
<p>Apple has confirmed that Steve Jobs is back on the Apple campus and has resumed working for the company he co-founded. According to the <em>The New York Times</em>, Jobs is resuming his duties at Apple.</p>
<p>This was pretty much <a href="www.taranfx.com/blog/?p=1142" target="_blank">confirmed</a> that he would join within june and there he is on the<a href="www.taranfx.com/blog/?p=1142" target="_blank"> last day of June</a>.</p>
<p>Though Steve is back, but still his hours and the number of days he spends in the office are still undeclared. With Jobs back in place Apple fans should be hopeful of new, exciting products as they have being doing over phenomenal last years.</p>
<p>In January, when Jobs stepped away, for health reasons, Tim Cook, COO of Apple, was pushed to be the backup CEO. Cook has been a decent choice to handle the day2day operation of the company but he hasn&#8217;t done the same sorts of things Apple supporters are used to seeing Jobs do. Ofcourse, this was never expected that he could replace him.</p>
<p>Tim Cook hasn&#8217;t been flashy; he&#8217;s been a good manager and kept the Good Ship Apple charted along a steady course. He is a silent and an Introvert. Not a core innovator, but a good people&#8217;s manager.</p>
<p>Best example is this month&#8217;s <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?tag=wwdc" target="_blank">WWDC</a>. Aside from dropping the prices on the MacBook Pro line of notebooks, nothing Apple did really sent ripples through the industry. The <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?cat=142" target="_blank">iPhone 3G S</a> is essentially the 3G with a nitro burst. The iPhone OS 3.0 may be more exciting that the hardware itself.</p>
<p>Cook didn&#8217;t even deliver the keynote. That was really Bad! He Let the previous generations of Apple set down!</p>
<p>Apple has been playing it safe under the leadership of Cook, instead of the Falshy Steve Jobs.. And, really, that is not a terribly bad thing &#8211; its just a difference in leadership characteristics between the two men.We like one, other one we don&#8217;t as much.</p>
<p>But with Jobs back it seems likely that Apple will step out again and play things more innovatively. The iPhone 3G S has, of course, been a hit, <a href="http://geeknizer.com/blog/?p=1208" target="_blank">selling over 1 million units in its first weekend</a>. By those standards, it is impossible to call it anything less than a success would be incorrect, even though iPhone 3G S has been overheating.</p>

<p>There is already speculation floating around that <a href="http://www.crn.com/mobile/218100975">Cook may bolt </a>(source CRN news). After all, he has just completed one of the most high profile CEO try-outs in the history of business. Undoubtedly there are a few companies out there that would like to have him run the show.</p>
<p>But it seems unlikely that Cook will leave. He appears to be too good a number two to Jobs. So while Jobs may get the glory, ultimately it&#8217;s Cook that keeps the company running &#8221; even if he isn&#8217;t flashy.</p>

There were no &#8220;one more thing&#8221; this time but people had been badly missing it. Apple has now confirmed that Steve Jobs will resume his employment with the company at the end of June.</p>
<p>Jobs had been off work for several months because of an illness.</p>
<p>Tim Cook had stepped into the chief executive position during the absence of Mr. Jobs and is expected to keep that designation. It is anticipated that Jobs will once again assume the rank of chairman. The formal title is probably immaterial as Jobs tends to monitor all aspects of the company closely. During his sick leave, Jobs had continued to be a strong force in steering the company’s future.</p>
<p>As Mr. Jobs gets back to work, the outlook appears to be bright for Apple. Apple recently released a new web browser called Safari 4 which has already been downloaded by millions of users, and analysts have applauded Apple’s efforts to introduce more moderately priced products during the current decline in the economy. Apple appears to maintain a solid position in the industry.</p>
<p>Steve Jobs will return to work at Apple at the <strong>end of this month</strong>, it was  confirmed today after a week in which analysts said that the company had  proved it could manage very well without him.</p>
<p>The charismatic chief executive has been on sick leave for six months after  losing weight dramatically due to a hormone imbalance last year.</p>
<p>&#8220;We look forward to Steve returning to Apple at the end of June,&#8221; an  Apple spokesman said.</p>

<p>While Apple stressed that Mr Jobs had been involved in the company&#8217;s strategic  decisions behind the scenes, analysts predicted a successful future for the  company, until now characterised by many as the &#8220;Steve Jobs Show&#8221;,  even if he steps away from day-to-day decisions.</p>
<p>There is rising speculation that Mr Jobs may return to the post of chairman,  continuing to act in a more strategic role. The job of chief executive has  been carried out by Tim Cook, the company&#8217;s chief operating officer over the  last six months, and many expect him to retain that role when Mr Jobs  returns.</p>
<p>“We applaud Steve for passing on the baton and creating a  culture of success. To us, the management transition is complete and there  should be minimal concerns.”</p>
<p>Some analysts raised their earnings estimates after Apple said it was cutting  the price of its entry-level 8-gigabyte iPhone 3G to $99 from $199 in the  US. Apple also presented faster and lower-priced MacBook Pro laptops in a  move designed to make its high-end products more accessible in the economic  downturn.</p>
<p>Apple has sought to give the iPhone a huge lead in the smartphone market by  giving consumers a huge range of applications to choose from the App Store.  By introducing a payments system in the latest software for the iPhone,  Apple has introduced another money-making stream for the company and  developers to exploit. For instance games developers will be able to allow  users to buy more features for their games using the iPhone, giving Apple a  cut.</p>

Even without Steve Jobs emceeing, this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference sold out in record time. Hopes are running high for products that the secretive corporation will unveil at the conference next week. Rumors about new iPhones, upgraded MacBooks and a highly anticipated touchscreen tablet abound, and there’s even gossip about a possible partnership with Verizon.</p>
<p>But as wonderful as all those items sound, they remain unconfirmed by Apple. And frankly, some of the rumors sound too good to be true.</p>
<p>What should we realistically expect? The following is a list of everything Wired.com has heard about WWDC, accompanied by our analysis on which rumored announcements will or will not become a reality.</p>
<p><strong>New iPhones</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-18068" title="_mg_1060" src="http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2009/06/_mg_1060.jpg" alt="_mg_1060" width="660" height="440" /><br />
There’s a pile of evidence in the blogosphere suggesting Apple will release a lackluster upgrade for its popular iPhone. Likely features include a digital compass, processor and memory upgrades, an improved digital camera with auto-focus and video-recording capabilities, and other minor improvements.</p>
<p>These hardware enhancements don’t add up to much. Instead, Apple seems to be training most of its focus on the previously-announced iPhone 3.0 — a major upgrade to the operating system that will add in-app commerce, tethering, live streaming, the ability to integrate apps with external accessories and push notification, along with a variety of other features such as cut-and-paste.</p>
<p>We’re confident that Apple will introduce an iPhone upgrade at WWDC — it would be a perfectly logical move because Apple announced the current iPhone 3G at WWDC 2008. Also, it would be ideal for Apple to unveil the iPhone at the event so it can hold WWDC sessions on any new hardware APIs (the rumored digital compass, for example).</p>
<p>The latest iPhone-related rumor involves <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2009/06/01/4gb-iphone-with-video-ichat/">Apple adding a 4-GB model to the line</a>. We’re skeptical about this, because Apple already killed the 4-GB model introduced with the original iPhone just two months after its release in June 2007. Would many people buy one, even if it only costs $100?</p>
<p>It’s more likely that Apple will add a 32-GB model to the iPhone family, because that’d be the next step up from the current 8-GB and 16-GB models.</p>

<p><strong>No Verizon Deal</strong></p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-large wp-image-18069" title="verizon" src="http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/gadgetlab/2009/06/verizon-660x616.jpg" alt="verizon" width="660" height="616" /><br />
<em>BusinessWeek</em> in April reported hearing from two sources “familiar with the matter” that Apple was working with Verizon on two new iPhones, which could be available as soon as this summer. This would be great news for Verizon customers unwilling to switch to AT&amp;T, the exclusive U.S. carrier for the iPhone.</p>
<p>Our thoughts? Not happening — not anytime soon, at least. Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg told the <em>Wall Street Journal</em> he expects Apple to consider sharing the iPhone with Verizon in 2010 — when Verizon begins deploying its fourth-generation network. If Apple is indeed interested in working with Verizon, there is no incentive to make this announcement in mid-2009 — especially when Apple can stretch out the negotiations to shake more money out of its carrier partners. Also, historically Apple does not enjoy making announcements about products until they are finalized.</p>
<p>Also, Apple said in late April it has no plans to change its exclusive relationship with AT&amp;T. Flip-flopping on that statement about six weeks later would make that a blatant lie, wouldn’t it? If any deal happens between Verizon and Apple, we expect it to happen no sooner than 2010.</p>
<p><strong>No Touchscreen Tablet</strong></p>

As much as you might want one now, we don’t see this launching at WWDC. We agree for why an Apple tablet is likely to appear no sooner than 2010. The strongest point raised is that Apple purchased chip company PA Semi in 2008, and <a href="http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/06/10/apple-in-parallel-turning-the-pc-world-upside-down/">Steve Jobs said the purpose</a> of the acquisition was to develop iPhone and iPod chips. Also, Apple has recently been hiring chip designers.</p>
<p>It’s reasonable to infer Apple would wait to introduce its newly developed mobile processor with the release of a highly anticipated touchscreen tablet. There’s no indication this is happening anytime soon.</p>
<p><strong>Incremental Upgrades for MacBook Family</strong></p>

</strong>9 to 5 Mac reported a rumor that Apple will roll out incremental upgrades to its unibody MacBooks. We buy that. Apple typically refreshes its notebooks every seven months, and the last upgrades were released in October. WWDC would be an opportune event to announce new MacBooks.<br />

We saved the most obvious for last. <a href="http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/05/13wwdc.html">Apple said in a press release</a> that it plans to preview new features and APIs for its next-generation operating systems iPhone 3.0 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. For iPhone, expect Apple to lay out the final roadmap for the iPhone 3.0 software developer kit, speaking more extensively on the features we previously wrote about. For Snow Leopard, Apple will likely nerd out about the OS’ optimization for supporting multi-core processors (i.e., <a href="http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2008/06/09snowleopard.html">Grand Central</a>).</p>

<p>Steve Wozniak&#8217;s health report, given to the Wall Street Journal, is the first outside assessment of Job&#8217;s condition since the Apple CEO went into seclusion in mid-January after saying a hormonal imbalance would require more intensive therapy that previously expected.</p>
<p>Jobs promised to return from his voluntary leave-of-absence at the &#8220;end of June,&#8221; but concern that his pancreatic cancer might have returned has kept Jobs&#8217; health in the spotlight. His decision not to keynote Apple&#8217;s developer conference in early June only added to speculation that Jobs might not return.</p>
<p>Wozniak&#8217;s assessment comes as good news to a world counting on Jobs&#8217; innovation and leadership to propel Apple forward. If true, it also explains why Apple is delaying introducing new products, even though the Palm Pre is due to arrive on June 6, two days ahead of Apple&#8217;s event.</p>
<p>A healthy, rested, and ready Steve Jobs might be an even more dramatic &#8220;introduction&#8221; than the new products Apple is expected to release. If Jobs returns at the end of June, a July introduction would make sense.</p>
<p>If Woz is right, and there is no real reason to doubt the Apple co-founder, then Steve Jobs will return and all will again be right in Apple&#8217;s world. Right, but not perfect, Jobs is still a cancer survivor and, like us all, he is getting older (he&#8217;s 54 now).</p>
<p>While Apple has a presumably long and strong product pipeline and seems poised to benefit from the return of its maximum leader, it still lacks a clear strategy for what happens in a post-Jobs world.</p>
<p>I hope this health scare, if that&#8217;s all it turns out to be, will convince Jobs to promote some of the talented people around him more into the public spotlight and to replace some of his reputed dictatorial micromanaging with a more collegial style. No one expects Apple to become the old collegial HP, but it is in everyone&#8217;s interest to start positioning Apple for Jobs&#8217; eventual retirement.</p>
<p>Woz may have finally ended the Steve Jobs Death Watch. The world would be a better place if the drama had ended sooner. A healthy Steve Jobs will be a most welcome sight.</p>

While a number of stories have been circulating around the internet about Jobs&#8217; take on the <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/2006/12/27/apple-stock-options-fallout-continues/">stock options scandal</a>, perhaps most interesting was Jobs&#8217; attitude and state of mind surrounding his return to Apple and the role of Apple CEO.</p>
<p>Back in 1996, after Apple announced that it would purchase NeXT, Steve Jobs returned to Apple as the &#8220;interim CEO&#8221; while a replacement was sought. Most casual observers felt that Jobs would certainly remain as CEO despite the interim title. Jobs finally dropped the interim title at the 2000 Macworld Expo. TechCrunch <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techcrunch.com%2F2009%2F04%2F25%2Fsteve-jobs-on-the-value-of-stock-options%2F&amp;t=1240853403">provides</a> a good summary of quotes from the deposition about Steve Jobs&#8217; thought process during that time and that transitioning to Apple as full-time CEO was not as obvious a decision as one might have suspected:</p>
<p class="quote"><strong>Q:</strong> And did you take on the role then as CEO?<br />
<strong>Jobs:</strong> Well, no, I did not. I was very concerned that Pixar was a newly public company with shareholders, employees, and I felt that &#8211; - to my knowledge there had never been a CEO of two public companies before. So I felt if I took the job, the Pixar shareholders and employees would think I was abandoning them.<br />
<strong>Q.</strong> Mm-hmm<br />
<strong>Jobs.</strong> And I decided I just &#8211; - that I couldnt do that. So I took the title of interim CEO and agreed to come back for 90 days to help recruit a full-time CEO.</p>
<p>Jobs, of course, was later unable to find a suitable candidate and eventually slid into the position himself.</p>
<p>Jobs also explains that the reason for the stock options was that he felt unappreciated by Apple&#8217;s board despite the amount of work he put into the company during those years. Jobs, of course, was <a href="http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sfgate.com%2Fcgi-bin%2Farticle.cgi%3Ff%3D%2Fc%2Fa%2F2006%2F12%2F30%2FMNGTANAGM21.DTL&amp;t=1240853403">cleared</a> of wrongdoing with respect to the stock option investigation.</p>
