yes, its unique in the sense that vMotion does it only within certain OS that it supports. Virtualbox supports largest no. of Platforms, hence practically, a True migration.
Apart from that, other limitations do exist. e.g. in vMotion if no of cores are >6 Live migration is not supported. Virtualbox goes way above this 32 cores.
