It's a remarkable device but I don't think it's the 'Kindle killer' by any stretch of the imagination. It is too expensive and many ebook readers like the portable size of the devices.

As for the “Take Photo” link – imagine taking photos with the future camera, which would have to be mounted above the screen. Or even on the back, imagine saying “cheese!” while holding the huge tablet. Ridiculous!

You should have seen the kind of jokes that were circulating on Twitter immediately after it was announced. Lack of knowledge about the product, lack of knowing the potential made them do the silly stuff.
I was right there watching people making fun of the device and was literally laughing at their ignorance.
Still 50% people are negative about it. But it won't be long when they change their opinion. Let it go live with apps, same people will come lining up at stores

I can destroy this analysis in two seconds, but 1) you're already stating the evidence, there are a lot of things missing and and we have to wait for them and 2) some fresh air amongst all these bad reviews, why not.

I'll even give you some more reason, starting this big one: Music.
All my geek enough friends, whether artists or not, won't buy it. All my non-geek artist-only will buy it as soon as the first tone pad, tactile synth or mpc app is released.
This is one of the major reason the iPad has great potential right now, we just have to wait for the first app and I know music software developpers are all jumping on the sdk right now.

Second, there are the first clues about why Mac didn't include a camera while there are traces suggesting it was ready for it: there is no multitasking anyway, so why should people hang on with a videconference while not being able to do anything else on the ipad ?

No wonder , iPad is a success release, I would count it amongst the successful products of Apple, Wonder why would people criticize it , because these days, starting from the media to the weblog, people says its a failure product. It will take some time to realize its value..

Here are some of the cons according to me –

* E-book feature – Amazon's Kindle uses E-Ink that is easy on the eyes as compared to the LCD screen that this uses.
* Heavy device
* Internal battery + 10 hours of battery time is under ideal conditions. Someone out there managed to get just 3 hours for an game with heavy graphics.
* No physical keyboard. On screen keyboard is a pain – I returned my phone just for that reason.

This is awesome. I have stumbled-upon many negative thoughts on the iPad but this articles lift my head up. I think I may consider an iPad. Apple has a pretty unique strategies there.
