Most people are migrating to postgresql or other databases. MySQL is likely dead, but it doesn't matter anyway.

So what if Oracle decides to kill MySql? Oracle is not a monopoly and it's not Microsoft - unlike an OS, databases are a plenty. EU is overreaching and it shows how evil governments become when they grow too large.

If you asked me, I'd say good riddance to MySql. There're still good databases around without it.

I tried it with Chrome and Firefox. After the header The EU Controversy, the rightmost bits of text are chopped off, making your blog hard to read at any window size.

F*** CSS: The ends of the lines in this article are getting covered by that bar that goes down the right side.

Recommended solution: Use tables-- they work better.

Hi! Brian Aker, Jay Pipes and others from the mySQL team have been working on Drizzle, a modular fork of the mySQL codebase.

I highly recommend you check it out if you are worried about mySQL, or are looking for an alternative.
