Use Xbox Controller on Mac OS

xbox-360-mac-os-x Microsoft already let gamers use their Xbox 360 Game controllers with Windows, but it features no support for Mac OS X.

Colin D. Munro, a Mac programmer, has created a USB driver/application which adds support to Mac OS X for the Xbox 360 wired (USB) controller. Everything works, the buttons, analog sticks, the analog triggers, and the D-pad, and most important,  Force feedback (Dual shock) also called Rumble.

Apart from the Official ones, 3rd party controllers also work when added manually to the driver’s list of supported devices. The developer notes that the wireless controllers won’t work even if he tries to, coz Microsoft uses a proprietary RF protocol. Unless Microsoft open sources it, it’s impossible, but that isn’t going to happen.

In addition, even the ChatPad works without any troubles. Also, he has added a version of the driver without support for the Guitar Hero controller, to allow the Guitar Hero for Mac game to work.

Overall, it works fine but still needs to go stable over some operations greatdeal for something which is free and of course open for willful-donations.
