The developer preview of Windows 8 was delievred last year, and here comes the Public beta of Windows 8 for normal users.
Windows 8 is landing on Tablets, Desktops, laptops and Smartphones alike.
Microsoft claims that Windows 8 is a “reimagining of Windows, from the chip to the interface. We made Windows 8 easy for everyone. Things are a lot different than the last time we made a generational change in Windows — Windows 95″. Windows 8 is designed to work with computers, mobile devices with any form factor from handheld to tablets.
Key features of Windows 8:
- Fast launching of apps from a tile-based Start screen, which replaces the Windows Start menu with a customizable, scalable full-screen view of apps.
- Live tiles with notifications, showing always up-to-date information from your apps.
- Fluid, natural switching between running apps.
- Convenient ability to snap and resize an app to the side of the screen, so you can really multitask using the capabilities of Windows.
- Web-connected and Web-powered apps built using HTML5 and JavaScript that have access to the full power of the PC.
- Fully touch-optimized browsing, with all the power of hardware-accelerated Internet Explorer 10.

Minimum requirements for Windows 8 are as good as Widnows 7:
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster (single or dual core)
- RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
- HDD: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
- Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device or higher
- To use touch, you need a tablet or monitor that supports multitouch
