For most, the first thing to quote would be: “it works as advertised”. As we analyzed from the early screens, it does runs on Android 1.6 and surprisingly enough, the hardware makes it run fast enough. This is what makes me wonder how fast would it go with Android 2.2 Froyo, when its get its port.
The bad side is of course the Resistive touchscreen which works with and without stylus, but that’s fine for a device that costs 1/15th of the iPad.
Overall Feel of the Device [Early Thoughts]
As Vikram chandra, Rajiv review it, it had been a stable journey even after use for long hours. As far as the design goes, you cat expect much. But the performance of the device is way better than what one would expect at this price. It plays videos, handles OS animations/transitions pretty smoothly.

The Tablet device will be available in different form factors with screen size of roughly 5″
- Android 1.6 (atleast initially) preloaded with default apps + educational software.
- A rear Video camera for video-conferencing, plus stills.
- Word, excel, Office document support etc using Documents to go, plus iReader.
- Full multimedia support
- Video Out (VGA, not HDMI)
- Connectivity: 3.5mm jack, USB, WiFi & 3G (via SIM card)

- Endless possibilities with Android (CyanogenMod? anyone?)
It’s Just $35
As Sibal claims, if they manufacture just 1 million devices, the cost of one device would be $35, without any external help of any sort. What they are looking for is innovating this device further. They are already in talks with Google, Microsoft for further improvements, and thats why its not limited to Indian market. After its initial launch in India, at sometime around mid 2011, the device would go global.
