Was the response any different for iPhone? Not really, critics have smashed, baked and drilled Apple gadgets the best they could but, Apple has always succeeded (so far).
The million dollar question – Will iPad succeed?, I feel yes, but let’s go through one of the first tests a gadget must go through: Smashing, scratching, and all those evils you would normally do (unwillingly) with your gadgets.
iPad vs. iPhone 3GS
iPad Stress Test:
PCWorld has compiled a beautiful set of real-life stress tests and found that iPad is not as durable as iPhone. Where iPhone could bear subsequent falls on to concrete, iPad couldn’t survive similar on carpet. The obvious reason is the large glass screen and the weight which makes it more susceptible to damages.

It was amazing how iPhone looked so sensitive but survived most test pretty well.
So a word of Advice, if you are buying an iPad, remember to keep utmost care or perhaps own a case.
iPad vs. iPhone 3GS Speed tests
Of course there’s no comparison on these two devices, but get the idea of speed improvements, you must check it out.

Test 3. Browsing, Downloads: Youtube Videos, Installing Apps from App Store
These test are not the end of the world but they serve their purpose – Give you an idea of difference in performance.
Apple’s A4 custom SoC is seriously fast, and practically even faster than Nexus One‘s Snapdragon 1Ghz processor when it comes to delivering performance to end-user applications.
