Jailbreak, Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware

Dev Team for released new Pwnage tool 3.1.4, which now makes it possible to Jailbreak, Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS using Mac. But this guide will enable you to do it without having to wait for Windows version of PwnageTool or redsn0w. Here’s how you do it for Windows:

Google the custom firmwares and download from torrents, as you read on:

Hint: there is a site dedicated to custom firmware called iphonefix, try to look for it.

Step 1: Preparing your iTunes

Once download of the required .ipsw file completes, Move it to the following location:

Windows 7:
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\”

Vista
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\”

XP
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\”

Restart  iTunes9.1 (upgrade to latest version), while keeping the iPhone connected.

Step 2:  Restoring

Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.1.2 that you have just downloaded for your iPhone.

For Mac, Click on ‘Ok’ to the prompt displayed and hold Option key and then hit Restore button. For Windows, hold the shift key and then hit the restore button.

New window popsup asking you to locate your custom firmware. After selecting, iTunes will start decompressing and then will install. This is an automatic process, sit back and relax.

When it finishes, if you are on iPhone 2G, you are done. Your phone is jailbroken (with cydia installed) and Unlocked. 🙂

For iPhone 3G and 3GS, there’s just one more thing. ROFL like Steve Jobs always says.

Step 3: Installing Ultrasn0w (for 3G, 3GS  only)

Launch cydia,  Manage > sources > Edit > Add “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/”. This is the source for Ultrasn0w unlock for 3G.
After your sources refresh, search for “Ultrasn0w” and install it. Then Reboot . When it starts again, wait on the slide to unlock screen for say  10 seconds and after reaching home screen wait another 10. If you don’t see the your network working, reset network settings and try reinserting the SIM card and wait another 10 seconds.

You should be done.
