As per the Japanese press release, it will go on sale sometime between April 2010 – March 2011.

- Dual Screen: Just like Nitendo DS, it has 2 screens stacked up
- You won’t need to wear 3D glasses to enjoy the 3D effects. The Nintendo 3DS uses the frontal camera to track the viewer eyes. By tracking the user’s eyes the machine can alter the perspective in the game to make it look as if the player is looking into a 3D virtual space.
- Two cameras will be used for 3d manipulations
- Games would be Backward compatible, will be incorporated for DS and DSi games.
- High chance of featuring Accelerometer, just like iPhone.
- The screen is much richer than DSi.
- Hardware / Graphics/GPU: Nvidia Tegra, exact specs unknown.
- Would support Rumble (vibrator)
It’s 3D gaming concept is pretty impressive, with 2 cameras: One each at front and back, it would be able to sense all movements and when accompanied by an accelerometer, it can pin point movements and your eye location to generate a perfect 3D perspective of the game.
Nintendo has a history of announcing hardware upgrades and features that may seem silly at first glance before going on to become huge success. Same was the case with Nintendo Wii : the Revolutionary WiiMote changes the way we played games and in fact motivated Sony to create PS3 Move. Let’s see how far Nintendo goes this time.
