Back in October last year, we talked about how Sony would jump into Gesture/Wii like gaming with it’s own controller in 2010 and the day is here when it becomes a reality.
At a GDC 2010 [Game developer conference], Sony showcased its new PlayStation Move controller, working along with a number of games.
The demos included boxing, archery and golf, all of of the stuff which is on Wii, will be bundled together in a game called, as of now, “Sports Champions.” The demo had an augmented reality Toy too. You hold the controller, but on the screen you see a paintbrush or a tennis racket. It’s very impressive technology, and seems very solid. Apart from that was 3D FPS (First person shooter) called SOCOM 4: the kind of impressive graphics that are impossible on Wii and also impossible without a second controller.

You can get the kit under $100 which includes PlayStation Eye, a motion controller, and a game, almost all the demos were played with two motion controllers. There is also a Second controller, much like the nunchuk. Sony will require you to have two Moves, and the secondary controller, “Subcontroller”. It looks just like Wii first- and third-person shooters, at least in terms of controls. Sony claims that the technology was integrated “very quickly, with very little overhead.” so it shouldn’t be hard for game developers to adopt it in the upcoming titles.
What’s more: PS3 Move is lighter than WiiMote. Also, it supports rumble but vibrates not on all activity (but this can be fixed with Game updates) There’s a glowing ball at the top of the move in which the colors shift and change
All in all, the PlayStation Move is a great thing to own and unlike Wii, it’s not restricted to sports and the graphics are undoubtedly way superior. What’s next for PS3: Inbuilt 3D Gaming. Stay tuned.
