Samsung Galaxy Camera: 16MP Android DigiCam Features Review

Samsung has launched a new segment of Camera, that Nikon was only dreaming of with Coolpix s800c.

Samsung Galaxy Camera is a pro camera with 21x Optical camera, 16MP CMOS sensor and runs Android 4.1 Jellybean. Samsung announced Galaxy Camera EK-GC100 along with Galaxy Note 2, 1.6ghz quad core phablet.

Galaxy Camera Specs

Galaxy Camera packs a 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS sensor with an impressive 16.3 effective megapixels. Here’s a full look:

Photo features:
– Smart content manager
– Photo wizard
– Video wizard
– Best group pose
– Voice control option
– Auto cloud backup
– Slow motion video
– S Planner, S Suggest
– Support for AllShare Play, Family Story, Dropbox

The camera, despite packing a 4.8″ display, actually seems quite pocketable, carrying a frame that weighs just 305g.

It runs latest iteration of Android 4.1 Jellybean and you can install apps from Google Play and samsung apps store like usual. It includes Samsung’s own features like automatic cloud backup, Share Shot (which allows users to share instantly with other Galaxy Cameras and phones), a suite of ‘S’ apps, and the usual Samsung Android customizations (TouchWiz 5).

Update: Early Handson Review Video

Battery Life: Device should get us about 7 hours of battery life during continous usage. Unlike Nikon s800c, it doesn’t shutdown android, all the time Android Jellybean is on standby like any android phone, when not in use.

This smartphone/camera is going to be the first amazing camera with wide set of editing and sharing options. Casual Photographers are going to love this new device.
