Enable MultiUser Login Profiles GUI on Android Jellybean

You might have come across the new hidden feature of Jellybean — It’s the Mutiuser login for Android Smartphones and Tablets.

With Multiuser support built into Android, you will finally be able to share your smart device with friends or family members just like you could do  with your PC/Laptop. Well, with this Android may be heading to the PC world but we’re not sure on that. The benefit one may anticipate from multiuser support multiple users on a single device is enough to keep everyone convinced that its the feature we had been waiting for, or at least some of us had been waiting for.

Well, the multi-account feature in Android 4.1 is still unannounced and not fully baked. Right now, this feature is enabled via the terminal emulator application, once a new account is created, it becomes available via the devices power menu. This is an older way of doing this, but in case you’re are curious, it was done by executing following lines on terminal (via terminal app or ADB shell)

su

pm create-user test

and later you can choose the user from device power menu by long pressing power button.

GUI Based User Management for Android JellyBean

XDA Forum Member Raghav Sood makes it visually appealing. He has created a multiuser GUI for User management.

The new interface lets you switch accounts, create, rename, and delete user, viewing all current profiles. The feature is still under development but if you’re using a Jellybean Tablet/Smartphone, its worth trying.

To enable MultiUser profiles on Android Jellybean, simply install the app called User Management from Play Store.
