Escape From Tarkov For Beginners: Understanding The Basic Mechanics Of The Game

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore mix of MMO, FPS, TPS, shooter, RPG, survival, and simulation. Tarkov is a fictional city located in the Norvinsk Special Economic Zone. Constant fighting and panic are already familiar in the town’s streets. Refugees, permanent residents, military, and loners organized themselves into various factions. Over time, the factions divided the city into “invisible borders,” where an extra step is a sure path to death. Bandits and military, armed soldiers who have deserted from the state – all these groups can become your assistants or blood enemies. Plot

The fictional Russian city of Tarkov, located in the Norvinsk region, is the setting for the action. At the time of the game, the Russian Armed Forces and UN peacekeeping forces cut off this region, which had once been the hub of economic partnership between Russia and the European Union. A crisis caused by a transnational corporation’s illicit actions resulted in the start of an armed war between military companies in the city. Two of them – one defends the corporation’s interests, and the other gathers proof of criminal activity.

Two private military rival firms, USEC and BEAR, are fighting hard clashes, including ones with the last remaining factions in the city, the Wild. They are the major operating forces. The main character is in the controlled city of Tarkov, whose exits are guarded by Russian and UN peacekeepers. The city’s exits are entirely packed with refugees, there are ongoing conflicts, and the populace is in a state of fear. Others chose to take advantage of the situation, profiting at someone else’s expense, because they were unafraid of it.

The player assumes the role of a former mercenary who has to escape the city and stay alive. In these circumstances, where everybody has to decide how to stay alive, what to do, and how to escape the chaos in the city, the hero starts his journey after selecting one of the parties—USEC or BEAR.

Game mechanics

Economy

Escape from Tarkov comprises more than gun battles, daring assaults into dangerous areas, and survival. The economy is a further layer that keeps players waiting for hundreds of hours. Almost everything from the place can be taken. Food, components, chemicals, ammunition, weapons, clothing, textiles, bolts, nuts, nails, and fuel cans are all necessary for making or just costing money from merchants. As a true gamer, claiming the entire mountain of loot is your religious duty. What matters is not how much it weighs. It doesn’t matter that you can no longer fit another handful of nails in your pockets.

These features separate the players into two groups. “Chads” refers to people who participate in PvP raids, are not averse to starting a fight, and only gain money by killing. The remaining 50% are rats. They are more concerned with the financial aspect of the problem: upgrading their housing, saving an extra million rubles, and enclosing all the loot locations. They conduct raids for purposes other than fighting. Yes, rats aren’t the best fighters and occasionally even shy away from conflict, but they have the resources to wage battle.

Money

Three different types of currency are present in Escape from Tarkov. Most often, rubles are used. Money can be placed in several locations, including filing cabinets, safes, wild pockets, bedside tables, desktops, and floors.

Currencies

Tarkov roubles are bought and sold by most merchants in the game. Only the Peacemaker conducts all transactions in Dollars. You can’t sell anything to merchants for Euros, but you can buy them from the Skier starting with loyalty level (LL) 2. You can also get a certain amount of euros as a reward for quests or put something up for them at the Flea Market.

Health system

A total of 440 health points are available to your character. Every body part has a unique health bar, status, and distribution of health points. If a bodily component was hurt, it could be fixed with a standard first aid kit (AI-2, IFAK, etc.). In this raid, when a limb loses all of its health, it stays destroyed. There are many repercussions for the character when certain limbs are lost. Using a surgical kit is the only technique to restore health to a severed limb. If the severed limb sustains damage, other multipliers are used to spread it to other bodily parts.

The head and the chest are the two essential elements of the persona. Your character expires when a crucial component suffers damage and loses all of its health. For instance, a character will pass away if they sustain 36 head wounds. Bleeding is an exception. The character will still be alive if the bleeding continues after the chest’s health hits zero. Vital parts, unlike other limbs, cannot be repaired with a surgical kit if they lose all of their health.

Body parts

Head: 35 points

Chest: 85 points

Belly: 70 points – If the abdomen is destroyed, it causes the character to quickly lose hydration and energy.

Left/Right Hand: 60 points – If an arm is destroyed or broken, the character will have a harder time holding a weapon, resulting in slower aiming, weapon switching, reloading, and tremors.

Left/Right Leg: 65 points – If a leg is destroyed or broken, the character will limp heavily and move much more slowly.

Quest system

Merchants assign the goals on a quest list. They offer the potential for more rapid character development. The player typically gains game experience, money, and stuff by fulfilling jobs. The character’s Loyalty Level also increases, granting access to higher tiers of the merchant’s inventory. Some quests grant access to previously inaccessible vendor purchases after completion.

Types of tasks

Tasks can be divided into two categories: static and transitory. Temporary tasks have time constraints, but static jobs do not. There are sporadic weekly and daily tasks. Automatically produced temporary task requirements and rewards are used.
