iOS 5.1.1 firmware on iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running Apple’s iOS 5.1.1 has now been Jailbroken Untethered after a long span of hard work by Pod2g and Chronic Dev Team.
The Untethered Jailbreak for iOs 5.1.1 is compatible with:
- iPhone 4S
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPad (3rd gen)
- iPad 2
- iPad 1
- iPod touch 3G
- iPod touch 4G
- Apple TV 2G
Chronic dev team’s Absinthe tool was among the first ones to Jailbreak iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 (on iOS 5.x). Absinthe is very easy to use and users to inject the necessary files into their device so that they can benefit from the untethered jailbreak.
Before you attempt to Jailbreak:
- Make a complete backup of your device using iTunes or iCloud before jailbreaking your device.
- If your iPhone relies on an unlock, do not update to stock iOS 5.1.1 firmware and for the time being stay away from Absinthe.
- If you have a passcode set on your device, make sure you disable it before following the instructions below.
How To Jailbreak Untethered on iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe
Step 1: Download Absinthe 2.0:
Download Absinthe 2.0.2 for Windows
Download Absinthe 2.0.2 for Mac
Step 2: Extract the compressed zip file and connect your iDevice to computer using standard usb cable.
Step 3. Launch the Absinthe tool and on initial interface, look for the Jailbreak button and click it.
Step 4. Absinthe tool will now begin the Jailbreak process and the GUI would indicate the progress. Avoid touching the iDevice while its in progress.
Step 5: When Untethered Jailbreak completes, phone will come to the lock screen. Unlock the device and Cydia app would be available on Homescreen. bingo, your device is fully Jailbroken Untethered with.
