Details of Nvidia Tegra 4 are now out in open and it proudly moves one giant-step ahead of Tegra 3.
NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 is a powerhouse that promises 6x times the graphics performance of the Tegra 3. The Tegra 4 (codenamed Wayne) is on-par with other ARM CPU/GPUs SoCs like Snapdragon S4, Samsung Exynos.
Tegra 4 GPU vs others
Tegra 4 sports same fabrication technology like its competitors, taking the size of transistor down to 28nm, making them power-efficient even at higher clocks by large margin from Tegra 3’s 40nm fabrication. Tegra 4 GPU is a powerhouse, it packs 72-core graphics on chip, and is six times as many GPU cores as Tegra 3, 20x boost from the Tegra 2. Tegra 4 Graphics performance can beat Apple A6 GPU but not A6X.

Tegra 4 can effortlessly drive displays at 2,560 x 1600, with 1080p output at 120Hz, and even 4K resolution displays. On the CPU front, not much would change other than power-efficiency and better performance. Tegra 4, like Tegra 3 has 4-plus-1 CPU cores, one separate core for battery efficiency. Tegra 4 is designed on ARM Cortex-A15, with A9 variants and support for USB 3.0.
Tegra 4 also has memory improvements. It has dual-channel DDR3L memory.
