Opera had really impressed us time to time. Their Opera 10.5 proves that they are still innovating fast enough to fight the browser wars.
Opera has announced that it would be releasing Opera for iPhone, very soon. The work had been going since a long while and it has matured enough to go public. Opera Mini for iPhone will be previewed during the 2010 Mobile World Congress (MWC).
“We are thrilled to offer journalists and partners an exclusive preview of Opera Mini for iPhone during the year’s biggest mobile event,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Co-founder, Opera Software. “This is a unique opportunity to introduce the fast, feature-rich Opera Mini experience for the iPhone, and to showcase our latest beta releases of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini on other platforms and devices. Opera’s mission is to bring the Web to the world, and by making Opera Mini available on yet another platform, we are one step closer.”
The biggest obvious question comes, will they be able to make it App Store? Apple had been long eliminating competition by putting a common rejection ” Duplicates features of existing app”. We know, it’s no duplicity, Opera mini is going to be faster and more feature-ful. Opera has a way out, they will create the Buzz at MWC, excite people and will hence force Apple to take-off the flood gates.
Let’s see how it goes. Stay tuned.
