Being an HD freak, I’ve always complained that videos are so limited to 1080p since more than last 5 years. Why isn’t technology in HDTVs, Monitors, HD cameras moving ahead ?
Google may seem to have solved the problem by taking a step ahead in Online HighDef videos promoting videos upto 4096p or 4K (a reference resolution of 4096 x 3072) Isn’t that 3072p ?
Youtube added FullHD 1080p videos a year back an today youtube supports videos from resolution 360p all the way up to 4096p.
4K resolution is freaking awesome for nextgen Highdef. To give some perspective on the size of 4K, the ideal screen size for a 4K video is 25 feet; IMAX movies are projected through two 2k resolution projectors, so Youtube videos would be twice as good, 4x times resolution of 1080p (1920×1080) At 4096 x 3072 pixels.
Experience 4096p Videos:
At this point of time, only high-end professionals own camera capable of doing 4096p, but Youtube has made available a playlist that let you experience the ultimate HD.
4K cameras cost in 100,000s of dollars and so are the projectors which are the size of a small refrigerator. Soon things should start entering consumer market.
