Google “Near Me Now” for iPhone, Android

The location  aware services are on the rise, making internet work for your local. A month back when Google launched Google Goggles Visual search for Android, we could clearly see how friendly can Google be.

Google now announces a new location  based service called “Near me Now” that works on both iPhone and  Android browsers.

“Near me now” is an easy  and fast and easy way to find out more about a place in your immediate vicinity, whether you’re standing right in front of a business or if it’s just a short walk away. For example, you may want to know what other customers think about a restaurant before you go inside (see quick video below) or what they have been raving about on the menu before you order. By selecting the “Explore right here” option, you can find out more about a place “right here” with just a few clicks.

The service makes popular categories of nearby places easily accessible. Possibilities are endless. For instance you might go to anew city and arrive at a hotel. You want a Spicy Indian Tandoori chicken treat, “near me now” is your guide.

Here is a video Demo:

The service is currently limited to US for iPhone (OS 3.x) or Android-powered devices with version 2.0.1 or later. In order to enable the service,  “Explore right here” works only if the phone provides location accuracy within approximately a city block.
