Year-end is approaching, and that means announcements of various Google products revolving around Android are approaching.
Soon after LG Nexus 4 leaks comes the Google TV v3, the most anticipated Google TV update from Honeycomb 3.2 version to ICS or Jellybean.
The Google Smart TV platform would get a huge facelift with a second screen tablet remote control app for second-screen navigation.
The official video was made public by Google by mistake, and it previewed all the key features. Google TV 3 has a voice control with the Google TV remote serving as a microphone, and viewers can ask for specific channels, apps, content searches, and genres, you name it.
Google TV v3 has intelligent voice search and navigation capabilities. It is smart enough to know when you’re asking for a particular show, a channel it has stored, or an app, and serve up the correct result accordingly. And this whole thing is seamless, While you’re actually watching a TV stream, or live TV, you can now use your voice/shortcut key to bring up a mini-guide version of the personalized TV & Movies application, which occupies the bottom half of the screen and gives suggestions as to what you might want to switch to next.
This is Artificial Intelligence, but the suggestions would get better over time of usage, just like Netflix or amazon related items.
This new mini-guide is also a quick way to jump across various categories, and the Full Guide.
Update: Google has now made the video demonstration private. But screenshots are available to give you enough idea.
The Google Play store, meanwhile, gets pride of place on the homescreen bar, and there’s now Google TV specific content including movies and TV shows. No word on when this new third-gen version might actually start arriving on set-top boxes and in smart TVs, however.
