Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael with Rich Android UI, Powered by 1Ghz

Android exposes power to extend the platform to design Custom UI for richer, User experience. Earlier, we saw this in HTC Hero’s Sense UI, now SonyEricsson is ready with it.

Device is code-named “Rachael,” and today a video claiming to be the device’s custom Android UI has been seen over youtube.

Like the Sense UI, Rachael’s UI retains the three-panel “shade and drawer” Android layout, but completely overhauls the graphics and widgets.

Sony Ericsson RachaelThe UI design is innovative, the card-style layout where call records, SMS/MMS, e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook feeds are arranged as sub-headings under a contact’s “card.” Also included in the video are icons for “TimeScape,” and “MediaScape,” which are currently unknown.

The device itself is still unannounced, so a launch date, price, and exact specs are still uncertain. However, the shots and video are of similar quality and design to others on the SE Web site, so the device could soon make an official debut there.

The device is really powerful with the Snapdragon CPU clocked at 1GHz. The ‘Rachael’ boasts of a 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and 3D graphics. The gaming and application felxibility would be limitless.

  1. he MyTouch 3G and Vodafone-labeled Magics have slightly less RAM than their HTC-branded counterparts, which means even the best hacked Hero ROMs don’t run especially well. Yeah, not looking so great for ol’ MyTouch here.

  2. The original resolution of the video is 852 x 480 pixels, which suggests that this will also be the resolution of the Rachael display. Coming with the sweet 16:9 aspect ratio this is the highest resolution screen we have seen so far on a mobile phone.
