And the rumors are in, the Apple iPhone will be out! Soon! With just a month to go before official release of latest in Apple’s iPhone series, the rumor mills are bustling with news, leaks and rumors. As per various sources across the web, 2018 just might be the year of Apple iPhone. With the planned line-up of 3 simultaneous releases, namely, iPhone X Plus (6.5 inch OLED), iPhone 9 (6.1 inch LCD) and the iPhone SE 2 (5.8 inch OLED).
All three variants are expected to have edge-to-edge display with minimal or NIL Bezel footprint, a feature already visible in the Apple iPhone X. With TrueDepth Secondary Camera prowess, all three are going to have Face ID unlock feature.
Both the OLED models, i.e. 5.8 inch and 6.5 inch iPhone models will probably be carrying forward most of the iPhone X features, and we may observe corners cut on a frew features as the pricing is expected to be kept low in order to outweigh the competition. Some of the most striking cuts in featres would be an Aluminium frame instead of Stainless Steel and a Single Lens Rear Camera. There is a high chance that the display might not have 3D Touch feature.
In another set of news, we expect that OLED iPhone variants may support Dual SIM functionality, as perhaps the most anticipated feature by iPhone Cult Fans. And ofcourse bigger display helps accomodate bigger batteries for long usage timings. And maybe both the bigger models will get a boost in RAM capacity upto 4 GB too!
Like last year, there were iPhone 8 twins (i.e. iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus) and Singlet iPhone X. This year may see reverse trend with iPhone X Twins (i.e. iPhone X Plus and iPhone SE X) and a Singlet iPhone 9. Ming-Chi Kuo (Analyst who shared the image above) expects that the 5.8 inch model will feature of high pixel density of almost 458 ppi and sport a 1125 x 2436 resolution. Also, the bigger 6.5 inch variant will offer close to 500 ppi display. And the bigger model might have a resolution of 1242 x 2688.
And yes the ‘Notch’ isn’t going anywhere. What would you guess for a 2018 smartphone, where everyone in the industry seems to be Aping the Notch and Apple is just the pioneer. Notch still have got equity linked to it and Apple is going to cash it. Technically, the TrueDepth Camera is going to be housed in the Notch itself.
Another set of news anticipated that the upcoming 6.5 inch iPhone will be similar in size to the 5.5 inch iPhone 8 Plus as removing the Home Button from the iPhone 8 Plus body would give anough display real estate to house 6.5 inch screen with no Bezels of course!
How many rar cameras you might ask? Well, the news mongers are segmented in two groups with this issue. One set says that 5.8-inch OLED model will have Dual Cameras, while 6.5 inch iPhones will have Triple Lens Rear Cameras. While the other set confides in the Dual Camera setup in both the models in-line with the iPhone X.
The iPhones that are slated to release in September 2018 are expected to be running on Apple’s A12 chips. Few of the Benchmarks that surfaced on the web show that A12 will perform almost 10% better than the A11 chip both in single core and multi-core tests.
Apple may finally shift to common global charging port standard of USB Type – C in 2018. And may ship USB – C to Lightning converter along with the phones so that you don’t have to dispose your old iPhone chargers. Wireless charging might get a miss this time too.
