Here and there – Flops in Tech

A successful product is the one that has a perfect mix of these ingredients: Right ProductRight Place, Right Time. And the timing for this article is an apt one. As the tech industry leaders are planning new launches and making announcements through their signature events, we explore some of the Flops in Tech. We have compiled following list for your perusal:

Amazon Fire phone – The product maintained the basic Amazon attribute, i.e. speed. It hit the market with spped of light and went of the Amazon’s digital shelves rather quickly.

Microsoft Bob – Originally designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT users, it aimed to provide a friendly GUI replacing the Program Manager. A roaming dog on your screen would help you navigate through files on your computer in a rather strange way. The font “Comic Sans” was created for Bob, the Dog.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 – A successful product line carving its own niche with a rather rampant hype and fan following, going bust because of one faulty part provided by a vendor. The smrtphone batteries would explode while charging or even due to heavy usage as phone heated up immensely. The product line got revival through the following product models.

Snapchat specs – They looked kinda hep in their own odd way. Took Snapchat through a thorough dip and resulted in several lawsuits against the company.

Nintendo’s Virtual Boy – A rather early attempt to conquer VR gaming durign 1995. It was designed to immerse the gamer into VR and give them a out of thw world experience. It did not turn own as expected. Low performance of the then available VR hardware with dual tone (Red and Black) graphics lead to a roadkill.

Microsoft Zune – The attempted iPod killer could barely get off the store shelves. No innovation, and heavy motivation from the original iPod could not help Zune to survive for long.
