LG’s marque Mosquito Away Technology, which is being prominently used in LG 32LH520D LED TV and in LG HS-C1865NN8 Air Conditioners. Both TVs and Air Conditioners have specific function key on the their remote to activate Mosquito Away Tech.
The Air Conditioners sport a Speaker that generates ultrasonic waves inaudible (almost) to humans. These waves have a specific frequency of over 30kHz that inactivates or repels mosquitoes while being safe for humans. Even as the disclaimer that accompanies the product clearly states that ‘Long term effect’ has not been tested on mosquitoes and they may grow resistant to such waves. The product is in no way a replacement to conventional mosquito repellents.
Test data also shows that only about 62.7% of anopheles gambiae mosquitoes are affected by this technology in LG Air Conditioners. Rest still remain there and are ready to harm humans in the room.
