Motorola Moto G 5G – an affordable 5G smartphone- Our Review

Motorola has given us another thing to talk about after delivering some outstanding smartphones during the year, namely, One Fusion+ and Moto G9. The latest offering is the Moto G 5G, which is an exceptional addition to the already incredible smartphone series. 5G connectivity on the Moto G 5G, make it an afforable alternative that is future-proofed too.

Motorola offers a powerful Snapdragon 750G processor, a mega 5000 mAh battery, a 6.7” Max Vision HDR10 display, and a total of six whooping cameras. That is more than any other budget phone offers and at a lower price at that, not to mention the 5G technology.

Specs and performance

There are several hurdles that avoid 5G from becoming a commonplace for smartphone users. The recent 5G contracts offered by network providers are expensive and the technology is not readily available everywhere. Hence the manufacturers releasing 5G phones are bound to price them higher than usual. But Moto G 5G sets a competitive price for upcoming 5G phones by offering the 5G technology on mobile at a low pricing. It supports 11 Global 5G Network Bands.

The Moto G 5G offers top-notch network speed and performance through its support for 4X4 MIMO & Carrier Aggregation. The call quality is excellent and the voice is good.

In order to enable 5G capabilities, the Moto G 5G is paired with the Snapdragon 765G chip. Which is the latest in the series. As per benchmarks, it is not top of the line, but the chipset is at-par with the Snapdragon 765G. With its robust 6GB RAM (still being a budget phone), the Moto G 5G can deliver fantastic speed and performance across the board. User is bound to get the thrills from high-quality videos to games with high graphics quality as well as high frame rates. The 128GB internal storage capacity is a pleasant add-on. Users get option to expand it further up to 1TB via a microSD card.

Cameras

Moto G 5G features a total of 6 cameras. It starts with a stack of 4 lenses at the rear side and 2 front facing camera lenses. The main rear camera has a 48MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens, and 8MP f/2.2 aperture ultra-wide, 5MP f/2.2 aperture macro, and 2MP f/2.2 aperture depth cameras. Thanks to the Quad-Pixel tech on board, the cameras can capture colors with a high degree of clarity and depth. They work well both during day as well as in dark lights. Moto G 5G cameras come with Night Vision mode to enable for better quality low light photography.

The front-facing 16MP lens is coupled with an 8MP f/2.0 aperture wide camera. The great combination focuses on super selfies and portrait shots. Colors and contrast from the shots are good for day-to-day video calls.

Battery life

The battery life of most Motorola is par excellence and the Moto G 5G is super charged. A big 5000mAh battery. So all day gaming, streaming, texting, is all well handled by the Moto G 5G. The TurboPower​ 20W charger capable of charging the battery fully in roughly 2 hours is an absolute icing on the cake.

Display

The Moto G 5G features a 6.67-inch display with a unique 20:9 aspect ratio that gives it that narrow, streamlined design that accommodates the big screen. It has a Max Vision HDR10 display with an LCD panel, though not the same quality as an OLED panel, produces videos in vibrant colors with improved brightness and contrast.

The dedicated Google Assistant button can be found on the top-left edge of the phone. It lets the user access the AI-powered digital companion easily. The My UX App is another bump-up for user experience. Users can easily customize various UX elements, including colors, icon shapes, and fonts. It also has support for multiple gestures and enables users to use the fingerprint sensor to perform specific actions. The IP52 water-resistant build offers an extra degree of protection against water spills, sprays, and dust.
