Why is Apple recalling Macbook Pro? What is the battery issue??

If you do not own a 15 inch Macbook Pro, you don’t need to worry about this Recall program. And if you do own a 15-inch Macbook Pro, read on!

As per Apple’s recent Recall announcement, certain models of the 15-inch Macbook Pro may have a faulty battery which tends to overheat, and may catch fire as well!

Did you buy your Macbook Pro between September 2015 and February 2017 ? Head right to this Apple website link and punch in your Macbook Pro serial number. This link is for customers based in Canada but does work for other countries too.

How to check if your Macbook Pro is eligible for Recall? Simple instructions as follows:

• On your Mac screen, goto “About This Mac” from the Apple menu at the Top-left corner of your screen.
• Check if your Macbook model matches exactly to “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)”
• Goto the link provided above and enter the serial number and you’ll come to know if your Macbook Pro is eligible for the program

Procedure to follow for the affected Macbook Pro models

• Find nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider. Just walk in and they should be able to help you with replacement
• Or, take appointment with nearest Apple Retail Store. As they may not be able to help instantly, you should make prior appointment.

And last but not the least, do remember to backup your data on the Macbook. To prepare your MacBook Pro for service, please back up your data.
