OnePlus 6 – First Impressions

There’s just one thing OnePlus does which makes is stand out of the Chinese lot, i.e. “Never Settle”. With the advent of first OnePlus One phone, they company has only worked its way up. A company that listens to its phone users closely and puts the suggestions to practice is not bound to fail.

And so they have evolved rather quickly in their 5th year of existence and have introduced the OnePlus 6 smartphone and it is huge. With greater length, breadth and weight than the iPhone X, the OnePlus 6 is slimmer by 0.1 mm. The Samsung Galaxy S9+ is slightly taller, thicker and Bulkier.

The OnePlus 6 is definitely a Flagship killer with high Specs of a raging bull. It has Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 chipset with Octa-core CPU (4 cores with 2.8 GHz Kryo 385 Gold & 4 cores with 1.7 GHz Kryo 385 Silver). And OnePlus just did not settle here, they loaded up Adreno 630 GPU same as Galaxy S9+. OnePlus 6 will be offered in two RAM options 6 Gb with 64 GB internal memory and gigantic 8 GB RAM with upto 256 GB internal memory.

Screen size of 6.3 inches and resolution of 2280 x 1080 is big, but is a charmer. AMOLED display is ticks the display box. The notch on Apple iPhone X has been a trendsetter since begining of 2018 ish and OnePlus 6 follows the suit. And the Oxygen OS is pretty supportive of the notch.

Talk about the Camera specs and OnePlus will not leave any stone unturned. The phone has Dual cameras: 16 MP (f/1.7 aperture) + 20 MP (f/1.7 aperture). Odd to notice is that both the cameras have same focal length. And the front camera sports 16 MP (f/2.0 aperture). While the Flagships still ship with Li-ion batteries, the OnePlus 6 comes with Non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery. Yet no wire-less charging.

Good to see that OnePlus retains the Alert Slider, Dash Charging and the 3.5mm Jack still lives on! And the option to remove the notch is going to be desirable for few.
