Samsung Galaxy Note 7 : Long-Term Verdict

Re-Presenting, the unbeaten challenger, in the silver corner! The Bigger, Better, Faster, Meaner, Brighter, Louder; The Samsung Galaxy Note 7!

In the “Phone + Tablet = Phablet” world, size does matter. In fact, size is everything. By size I don’t mean the bigger the better. Size has to be Perfect!

Samsung has bettered the perfect size with perfect styling, perfect ergonomics and perfect technology. All this and much more packed up in 169 gms and dimensions so sleek 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm you’ll fear it may slip outta your hand.

BODY: Galaxy S series is Samsung’s flagship line-up. The Galaxy series is a cult of its own. Its like neighbor’s envy, owner’s pride! And Galaxy Note 7 left plastic and moved to figurative Aluminium casing and became waterproof too. Additionally it comes in varied colors: Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Black Onyx.

As I go on structuring this review, focus will be on most striking items in the Gypsophila of latest age technology, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

DISPLAY: The Display is a jaw dropper. The Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors is flawlessly spread over 5.7 inches screen real estate.  The display elaborates the images with max resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protective layer. and it comes with the S-Pen with 0.7mm pressure sensing tip.

UNDER THE HOOD: The Galaxy Note 7 runs Android OS 6 (Marshmallow) and is up-gradable to Android OS 7 (Nougat). This powerhouse is run by a powerful Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Mongoose & 4×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and is accompanied by Mali-T880 MP12 GPU on Exynos 8890 Octa Chipset. That is like virtually 8 horses pulling you war chariot. The CPU and Chipset are the same as Galaxy S 7, an already established Gladiator in the Colosseum.

MEMORY: This mammoth size phone comes with a 64 GB internal memory and unparalleled performer 4 GB RAM. Normally when you multitask rigorously, your phone finds itself asking for more resources to switch between apps and manage parallel jobs, this here is an exception where things are vice versa. Your phone keeps taking work orders and can never really utilize available resources to the fullest. Thus leaving you with itchy fingers and you ask your Note 7: Hey while you process my heavy graphics job and simultaneously get updates for all of my 100 Apps, play me a BlueRay video in a window, will you! And it complies..

CAMERA: Common Talk – When you compare your phone specs with a friend’s or colleague’s device, Camera is one thing that is sure to come by, even if you miss out discussing processor and RAM specs. So here is the Camera Spec which may sound ordinary cliche but does deliver more than expected. The Note 7 has 12 Mega Pixel Camera with f/1.7  26mm and LED flash. Hey it records 4K video and with its super 1/2.5″ sensor size it has fine HDR click capabilities too. It also has a secondary 5 Mega Pixel camera f/1.7. The camera is fast and very clear with the clicks.

SENSORS: This here is category created specially for Galaxy Note 7 as the device seems to be loaded with all sorts of sensors, namely accelerometer, Iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, gyro sensor, proximity sensor, compass, barometer, heart rate sensor , SpO2 (Oxygen sensor). What? An Oxygen sensor? What for? This is to detect capillary oxygen saturation i.e. it gives you measure of Oxygen in your blood. This works similar to device they attach to your index finger in hospital to check Oxygen saturation. Yep its a doctor too.

BATTERY: All the above mentioned things consume a whole lot of battery and the Note 7 is adequately equipped with Non-removable Li-Po 3500 mAh battery. And it charges up quickly to your heart’s delight! (Had to add the human touch here!). The phone gives me a full day run with all my mails, WhatsApp, Facebook, G+, Twitter, and an average talktime of 2 hours a day.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expensive, yep it is. If you can overcome this hurdle, then you are gonna be a marathon runner and would be yelling all the way: Somebody stop me!
