WhatsApp Features and Shortcuts

WhatsApp is one of the Hugely rated and used messenger App for communication on Apple App Store as well as Android Play Store. WhatsApp is used by all the age groups capable of operating a mobile device or PC. WhatsApp is single App source to serve purposes like chatting, business and advertisement. A lot of users make good use of this app everyday but many are not well informed about the features and shortcuts on the App that would make operating it easier and much cooler for users.

Using WhatsApp on PC

If you prefer typing on your PC or Desktop keyboard over you Smartphone, you can easily access your WhatsApp account from your PC. This cool feature allows you to chat and receive WhatsApp messages on your PC without any software or third party app. To do this, open web browser on your PC and type web.whatsapp.com. Now open the WhatsApp App on your smartphone or mobile device and click the menu icon on the top right corner and select WhatsApp web. Once you click it, you will be asked to scan the QR Code visible on the PC screen and you’re ready to access WhatsApp on your pc. Sharing images and other media is easy using WhatsApp web.

WhatsApp Chat shortcuts

You can access your favourite contacts faster, instead of firing up the WhatsApp App every time you want to start a chat, you can create a chat shortcut by holding down on the contact for few seconds and click the top right icon then choose add shortcut, once you do that, the contact’s icon automatically appears on your home screen. You can create as many chat shortcuts as you may like.

WhatsApp group call

This a relatively new feature in WhatsApp where you can have a simultaneous video chat with more than 3 people in one go. This can be done by initiating a video call with the first person and once the call starts, you’ll have to click the add user icon and select another contact and you can keep doing that till you’ve reached the limit.

Changing Text Fonts

WhatsApp has added a new Font feature and this can be used by adding three grave charters at the beginning and end of your text before sending and this changes the font of the text you’re sending automatically.

Deleting sent messages

Quite a few times, you make the mistake of sending unintended messages to people or groups or sending texts with a lot of typos. WhatsApp has made it possible for its users to delete messages before the recipient sees it or even after the recipient has read it. This is done by long press on the text for about 3 seconds and selecting delete message for everyone.

Your presence online can be totally concealed and no one will ever know you’re online, reading their sent messages or checking their status. Following features help you cover up your online activity on WhatsApp from your contacts:

Reading messages secretly

This is mostly done on devices by changing the privacy settings but iPhones have a special feature to access this and this can be done by 3d touch in the contact, it displays the message without marking it as read.

Changing online status and other Privacy Settings

Click the top right icon and select settings, then go to accounts and you’ll see the first option as privacy. Once you click it, you’ll be able to access all the privacy functions from there.
