Vivo Apex aka ‘The Gamer Changer’ Smartphone – Don’t miss it!

Smartphone space is cluttered up of late, however the real innovators have not rested themselves. A phone comprises of several features and the number just keeps on adding. Companies have various divisions focusing on innovations in each of the components. And the developers, hence, face the uphill task of integrating the innovations into one single marvel where the latest tech work seamlessly as on unit.

We witness innovations helter skelter, like one phone has a better camera but merely matches up with competition with other features. Then the competition would soon catch up and the unique offering is not exclusive anymore. Like 2018 is the year of the Notch and no new launch phone is kept bereft of the Notch feature.

And then came the Vivo Apex. A maverick of a Smartphone design. Its an All-Screen ( 5.99″) phone. You hold the phone in your hand it oozes amazement all over. There is no Bezels, the concept of Screen-Body ration is out of the window. The Bezel sizes are only 1.8 mm on top and sides and 4.3 mm on the bottom chin, and that’s it! No front speakers, sensors, finger print sensor, etc. And you might think, where did the the front camera go? Its right there! Pull up the camera app and the front camera (12 MP) emerges from the top of the phone, more like a motorized SIM tray. Futuristic! While the sensors are machined into the body on the top edge, the Vivo Apex uses whole screen as speaker. The whole screen vibrates to give out sound while on call. A class apart, class defining concept.

If the bottom Bezel is reduced to 1.8 mm similar to the top and side Bezels, the screen-to-body ratio could be 98%. This very well could be the path towards a 100% screen-to-body ratio.

So where is the finger print sensor if its not there on the bottom front side? Nope! its not at the back side of the phone either! It is underneath the screen! Yep! The screen is the finger print sensor! You need to press in the highlighted in the middle of the screen and the phone will unlock. As the sensor area is big, it can accommodate two fingers in one go, raising the privacy bar! And as the screen size has increased over the years, we’ve found it difficult to reach the bottom end of screen to unlock the phone using finger print sensor, that issue is addressed with the sensor in the middle of the screen. Maybe in the near future, the whole screen will be your finger print sensor. You would unlock the screen without even looking at the screen to put the finger in the right place.

The phone still has a dual camera setup at the back. It comes with USB Type-C dock and it will not she the beloved 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone has 5.88 inch screen and 1080 x 2160 pixels and it runs on Android v8.0 (Oreo) operating system. The Vivo Apex sports a 2.8 GHz Octa core processor and about 4 GB of RAM. Another biggie is the battery at 4000 mAh.
