What makes OnePlus 6 special? Materials!

Lets face it, we have been listening to Apple’s blah blah on “Industrial  Design” since ages. As if none of the other companies ever had an Industrial Design Department. OnePlus, the Maverick, has been trailing closely with their own Design Language and have not shied away from testing unconventional materials and textures, remember the unique OnePlus One rear texture? Previous OnePlus phones had a dull metallic look and were kinda squarish boxy in shape.

Moving out of the convention, OnePlus skipped the Aluminium body styling (carried in OnePlus 3 & 5 series) and have moved to a completely different design language. They have graduated to Gorilla Glass 5 materials for OnePlus 6 front and rear. But the glass isn’t fully Glass, the company has tactfully managed to slide ceramic film under the glass body to give the phone a premium Ceramic look. Company has boldly attempted to play with the way light gets reflected off Glass and Ceramic surfaces. Moreover the really nice curved back is like an icing on the cake. The phone comes in three variants:

Mirror Black – Carries a ceramic material look but it isn’t ceramic, hence isn’t bulky like ceramic. This look is very different from glossy look of the Apple iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9. The phone has a got a polished look to it making it distinctly different. Ceramic finish is just phenomenal.

Midnight Black – We like to call it the Mat Black version for its subdued appearance and no Finger-print magnet properties. Company has diligently worked on the acid etched Glass edges using a chemical corrosion process. The resultant is a smooth texture which is admired by the onlooker. Touch experience of the Midnight Black phone is unparalleled. Touch feels similar to Track-pads on a laptop or Macbook pro.

Silk White (limited edition) – We call it the Marble version. It is something similar to using crushed pearl to bring about Silky smooth white surface. The phone also gets a Rose Gold metal frame. Touch and feel of a marble finish.

The OnePlus 6 has smoothly-rounded corners and gently curved glass which looks Top Class and gives sturdy feeling in hand.The OnePlus Design Philosophy has come a long way with OnePlus 6 with only 5 years to its existence.
